Study or professional training: - Certificate of enrolment at an educational establishment (school, university, college, etc.) for the purposes of attending vocational or theoretical courses for basic and further training; - Student card or certificate of the courses to be attended, relevant; - Internship agreement, if relevant. Tourism: - Invitation letter if travelling to visit friends and/or family members (if applicable). Medical treatment: - Official document from the healthcare establishment, confirming that the applicant will be carrying out specific and necessary medical treatment. - Proof of sufficient means of subsistence to pay for medical treatment and related expenses, or proof of pre-payment of treatment. Seafarers: - Seaman’s book, if applicable; - Recent, signed and official letter from recruiting company stating the name and rank of the seafarer; and - Vessel’s name, vessel’s arrival date in port and the date the seafarer joined the vessel. Lorry drivers: - Recent, signed and official letter from the national association (union) of carriers of the host country providing for international road transportation, stating the purpose, duration and frequency of the trips; - Written request from the partner company based in the Member State; - Driver’s licence for international transport; and - Way bill. Appointment with AIMA: - Customers that require a Visa to travel to Portugal with the intention of attending an appointment with AIMA, in complement with the standard documentation for a Schengen Visa application, must also provide proof of appointment with AIMA. Official delegations travelling on the basis of an official invitation addressed to the government of the third country concerned, to participate in meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programmes, as well as in events held in the territory of a Member State by intergovernmental organisations: - Letter issued by an authority of the third country concerned, confirming that the applicant is a member of the official delegation travelling to a Member State to participate in the above-mentioned events, accompanied by a copy of the official invitation from the intergovernmental organisation in the Member State; or - Verbal note from the relevant Embassy/institution. Applicants are responsible for ensuring they are in possession of adequate travel insurance for any future stays in the Schengen area. - Proof of funds/means of subsistence: - Last 3 months of bank account statements , showing customer’s name, address and an end balance dated within the last month of the visa application submission date. The available balance in the most recent bank statement must meet the criteria for means of subsistence (https://vistos.mne.gov.pt/en/short-stay-visas-schengen/required-documentation/means-of-subsistence) : to enter and stay in Portugal, a foreign citizen must have 75 € for each entry in the Schengen area and 40 € for each day in the Schengen area. A credit card account statement, indicating the cardholder’s name, address and monthly limit or spending cap, may also be taken into consideration when submitted together with the bank account statements; or , - Term of responsibility (https://vistos.mne.gov.pt/images/termoderesponsabilidade.pdf) filled and signed by sponsor/institution, which guarantees the bearing of all living costs related to the stay of the visa applicant, as well as removal costs in case of irregular stay. When sponsored by a private citizen, the term of responsibility must also be accompanied by a copy of the sponsor’s passport/ID, last 3 months of bank statements, and latest self-assessment tax return or proof of employment of the sponsor (if applicable). SPECIFIC ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED - DEPENDING ON THE PURPOSE OF THE TRIP Business: - Invitation from a firm or an authority to attend meetings, conferences, or proof of registration for events connected with trade, industry or work; or, - Other documents that show the existence of trade relations or relations for work purposes; or - Entry tickets or registration for fairs and congresses. Study or professional training: - Certificate of enrolment at an educational establishment (school, university, college, etc.) for the purposes of attending vocational or theoretical courses for basic and further training; - Student card or certificate of the courses to be attended, relevant; - Internship agreement, if relevant. Tourism: - Invitation letter if travelling to visit friends and/or family members (if applicable). Medical treatment: - Official document from the healthcare establishment, confirming that the applicant will be carrying out specific and necessary medical treatment. - Proof of sufficient means of subsistence to pay for medical treatment and related expenses, or proof of pre-payment of treatment. Seafarers: - Seaman’s book, if applicable; - Recent, signed and official letter from recruiting company stating the name and rank of the seafarer; and - Vessel’s name, vessel’s arrival date in port and the date the seafarer joined the vessel. Lorry drivers: - Recent, signed and official letter from the national association (union) of carriers of the host country providing for international road transportation, stating the purpose, duration and frequency of the trips; - Written request from the partner company based in the Member State; - Driver’s licence for international transport; and - Way bill. Appointment with AIMA: - Customers that require a Visa to travel to Portugal with the intention of attending an appointment with AIMA, in complement with the standard documentation for a Schengen Visa application, must also provide proof of appointment with AIMA. Official delegations travelling on the basis of an official invitation addressed to the government of the third country concerned, to participate in meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programmes, as well as in events held in the territory of a Member State by intergovernmental organisations: - Letter issued by an authority of the third country concerned, confirming that the applicant is a member of the official delegation travelling to a Member State to participate in the above-mentioned events, accompanied by a copy of the official invitation from the intergovernmental organisation in the Member State; or - Verbal note from the relevant Embassy/institution. A National Visa is intended for stays of more than 90 days in Portugal, and is divided in two types: - A Temporary Stay Visa for stays of over 90 days and up to 1 year, with multiple entrances allowed into Portugal. - A Residence Visa for stays of more than 1 year in Portugal. With a Residence Visa the applicant will initially be granted a visa valid for 120 days with up to two entrances into Portugal, followed by an appointment with AIMA in Portugal, to acquire a Residence Permit, that will allow the applicant to stay over 1 year and multiple entrances. Both the standard and the supporting documentation have to be recent, i.e. not older than 1 month, and need to be provided for every Schengen visa application. Applicants always have to bring and present their original documents, but they only need to submit photocopies of the same; unless the requirements specify that an original document has to be submitted. Before gathering the required documents mentioned below, applicants are advised to read the requirements under the Overview section in order to ensure they are entitled to apply for the chosen visa category. - A. When travel tickets have been paid through travel agency, then a receipt, an invoice or a payment confirmation is also required. - Proof of accommodation - a. confirmed accommodation (hotel, hostel, camping,…) reservation mentioning the minors name, travel dates and accommodation address details. - If the minors name is not mentioned on the accommodation reservation, then a joint travel confirmation letter, signed and dated by the person whose name is on the reservation, must also be provided along with a photocopy of that same person’s passport/ID card + passport signature page, if signature is not on passport’s bio page. - When accommodation is reserved for a group, then a list with the names of the group members will also be required; alternatively the group members their names may also be mentioned on the travel ticket. - b. accommodation provided by family/friends in Portugal: minors host’s recent (not older than 1 month) cover letter (signed and dated) - confirming travel period and address of stay - is required, along with a copy of host’s passport’s bio page + host’s permit of stay in Portugal, if host is non EU citizen. When applying through the Portuguese Consulate in Manchester then host in Portugal also needs to provide a declaration of support legalised by a Notary Public (visa application Manchester and Edinburgh). - Travel insurance (all-risk medical travel insurance) The travel insurance – clearly showing the minors name - has to be valid throughout the complete territory of the Schengen Area and must cover the entire period of the minors intended stay in the Schengen Area; the minimum coverage for medical emergency and repatriation (in case of death clause included) must be 30.000 €. In case the minor is applying for EEA/EU AND SWISS NATIONAL FAMILY MEMBER - 1. EEA/EU and Swiss national’s passport or ID card (original to be seen) - 2.
