Medical Visa (B - Medical)

For foreign nationals traveling to Kazakhstan to receive medical treatment at a Kazakhstan healthcare facility.

Explicitly listed as one of the three e-visa types (business, tourist, medical). E-visa entry/exit restricted to Astana and Almaty international airports. Duration is determined by the treatment plan at the time of issuance. Consular fee: USD 80 single-entry.

Private Visit Visa (B10)

For foreign nationals visiting family members, friends, or private contacts in Kazakhstan. Requires an invitation from the Kazakh-resident host.

Facilitated processing without prior invitation available to citizens of 48 countries. Inviting party must register the guest within 3 working days of arrival. Private visit invitations must be submitted between 1 year and 5 working days before arrival. Consular fee: USD 80 single-entry.

Residence Permit Acquisition Visa (B8)

A transition visa allowing foreign nationals to enter Kazakhstan for the purpose of obtaining a temporary or permanent residence permit.

National fee (duty): 7 MCI single-entry (approx. 27,524 KZT at 2025 MCI rate of 3,932 KZT) or 30 MCI multiple-entry (approx. 117,960 KZT). MCI = Monthly Calculation Index set annually by the Government of Kazakhstan.

Official/Diplomatic Visa (A3)

For foreign government officials, diplomats, and staff of international organisations making official visits to Kazakhstan.

Facilitated processing: citizens of 48 eligible countries may obtain A3 visas without an invitation letter. Diplomatic passport holders from many countries already have visa-free access for official travel. Standard processing up to 5 working days; invitation processing up to 3 working days (electronic) or 5 working days (paper).

Investor Visa (Multiple-Entry)

For foreign nationals who invest a minimum of USD 300,000 in the charter capital of Kazakh companies or in locally traded securities, enabling entry and subsequent residence permit acquisition.

Effective April 30, 2025. Applications submitted electronically via vmp.gov.kz. After obtaining the investor visa, holder may apply for a residence permit for up to 10 years. Minimum investment: USD 300,000. Multiple-entry consular fee applies (30 MCI / ~USD 200 equivalent).

Neo Nomad Visa (B12-1)

For digital professionals and entrepreneurs working remotely for foreign employers who wish to reside in Kazakhstan while maintaining employment outside the country.

Introduced 2025 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Valid for up to 1 year, extendable for an additional year from within Kazakhstan. Requirements: minimum stable monthly income of USD 3,000, tax declarations, criminal record clearance, and health insurance. Processing time not published on official pages.

Permanent Residence Visa for Skilled Professionals (B9)

For highly skilled foreign professionals in in-demand fields including medicine, science, education, innovation, and creative arts who seek long-term residence in Kazakhstan.

Introduced 2025 as part of Kazakhstan's talent attraction initiative. Grants a permanent residence permit for up to 10 years. Processing time not published on official pages reviewed.

IT Professional Permanent Residence (B9-1)

For foreign IT professionals (software development, cybersecurity, UI/UX, DevOps, and related fields) to obtain permanent residency in Kazakhstan under a pilot digital nomad scheme.

Pilot project launched March 2025. Requires a petition from the Ministry of Digital Development / Astana Hub confirming qualification. Applicant must also obtain an IIN (Individual Identification Number) and digital signature (EDS) from a Kazakhstan embassy prior to applying online via eGov.kz. Must buy or rent property in Kazakhstan and provide a medical certificate at final stages. Processing: 45 calendar days.

Education (Student) Visa (C9)

For foreign nationals admitted to or enrolled at Kazakhstan educational institutions (secondary through postgraduate programmes), and their accompanying family members.

Category C9 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification. Issued on the basis of a request from the authorised education body or a registered educational institution. Single-entry stay up to 90 days; multiple-entry validity up to 1 year, extendable. Not part of the e-visa scheme; applied for at a Kazakh consulate.

Employment (Labour Activity) Visa (C3)

For foreign nationals travelling to or residing in Kazakhstan to carry out labour activity (employment), together with their family members. Requires an inviting employer and, where applicable, a work permit.

Category C3 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification - the principal work visa. Issued at the request of an inviting party holding the required labour permit. Single-entry stay up to 90 days; multiple-entry validity up to 3 years (up to 5 years for AIFC participants and Astana Hub employees). EAEU nationals (Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia) do not require this visa or a work permit.

Independent Employment Visa (C4)

For foreign nationals engaging in independent employment in occupations that are in demand in priority sectors of the Kazakhstan economy.

Category C4 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification. Covers self-directed/independent employment in in-demand priority-sector occupations. Single-entry stay up to 90 days; multiple-entry validity up to 3 years. Not part of the e-visa scheme.

Seasonal Worker Visa (C6)

For seasonal foreign workers employed in Kazakhstan for seasonal work under a labour permit.

Category C6 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification. Single-entry stay up to 90 days; multiple-entry validity up to 1 year, not exceeding the duration of the seasonal labour permit.

Family Reunification Visa (C2)

For family members of Kazakhstan citizens permanently residing in Kazakhstan, of ethnic Kazakhs, of former compatriots holding a temporary residence permit for 2+ years, and of foreigners with a permanent residence permit.

Category C2 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification - the family reunification / dependant visa. Single-entry stay up to 90 days; multiple-entry validity up to 1 year. Distinct from the short-stay private visit visa (B10), which is for visiting relatives or friends without reunification/residence intent.

Repatriation Visa for Ethnic Kazakhs / Kandas (C1)

For ethnic Kazakhs (kandas) travelling to Kazakhstan for permanent residence under the historical-homeland repatriation programme.

Category C1 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification. Multiple-entry only, valid up to 1 year. Supports the repatriation of ethnic Kazakhs settling permanently in their historical homeland; leads to residence permit and kandas status.

Missionary Visa (C7)

For foreign nationals travelling to Kazakhstan to carry out missionary activity, together with their family members.

Category C7 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification. Missionaries must additionally register with the authorised religious-affairs body. Single-entry stay up to 90 days; multiple-entry validity up to 180 days. Distinct from the B6 religious-activity visa, which excludes missionary work.

Religious Activity Visa (B6)

For foreign nationals participating in the activities of a religious association in Kazakhstan, excluding missionary work.

Category B6 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification. Single-entry only, stay up to 90 days. Covers participation in religious-association activities; missionary work is handled under the separate C7 missionary visa.

Internship and Training Visa (B7)

For foreign nationals undertaking practical training or an internship in Kazakhstan, including participants in Astana Hub programmes.

Category B7 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification. Covers practical training and internships (including Astana Hub programmes). Single-entry stay up to 90 days; multiple-entry validity up to 180 days.

Medical Treatment Visa (C12)

For foreign nationals travelling to Kazakhstan for medical treatment, examination, or consultation, and for relatives accompanying or caring for the patient.

Category C12 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification - the formal long-stay medical treatment visa. Single-entry or multiple-entry, stay up to 180 days. Covers treatment, examination, consultation, and accompanying caregivers. Distinct from the short-stay medical e-visa (issued for business/tourist/medical purposes via the e-visa portal).

Investor Visa (A5)

For heads and deputy heads of organisations carrying out investment activity in Kazakhstan and for investment tax residents of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), together with their family members.

Category A5 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification. Single-entry stay up to 90 days; multiple-entry validity up to 5 years. Covers AIFC investment tax residents and heads/deputy heads of investment-activity organisations plus their families. Distinct from the A6 investor visa (USD 300,000+ investment, up to 10-year multiple-entry residence) captured separately as the Investor Visa (Multiple-Entry).

Adoption Visa (B11)

For foreign nationals travelling to Kazakhstan for the purpose of adopting a Kazakhstan-citizen child.

Category B11 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification. Single-entry stay up to 180 days; multiple-entry validity up to 1 year. Issued for the adoption of a Kazakhstan-citizen child.

Humanitarian (Volunteer) Visa (C8)

For foreign volunteers providing services free of charge and for participants of international treaties providing charitable or humanitarian assistance in Kazakhstan.

Category C8 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification. Covers volunteers providing free-of-charge services and providers of charitable/humanitarian assistance under international treaties. Specific stay and validity limits are set at issuance and are not enumerated on the official classification page.

Crew Members Visa (B5)

For members of the crews of scheduled and charter flights and for crews of trains and vessels operating to or through Kazakhstan.

Category B5 in Kazakhstan's official visa classification. Single-entry stay up to 90 days; multiple-entry validity up to 1 year. For aircraft, train, and vessel crew members.

International Road Transport Visa (B4)

For foreign nationals engaged in international road transport - professional drivers operating cross-border road haulage and passenger services.
