otherVisitors Visa Less Than Three (3) Months
- Complete, accurately filled and signed application form (DHA-18) Form 11 by the applicant in black ink. - Two passport sized photos recently taken with white background as per 35mm x 45mm size. (Refer to photo specifications for detailed description of the requirements.) - Valid passport which expires in no less than 90 Days after expiry of the intended date of departure from the Republic of South Africa with two blank pages and a copy of passport certified by the government or representative of the country you are a citizen off in terms of regulation 9(1)(a) - Introduction letter from the applicant specifying the purpose of the visit duly signed. - Introduction letter from current employer dully signed with a date and company stamp and clear company logo. The employer must not only confirm employment but also indicate whether the traveler will be on leave for the duration of that period - Passport should have at least three (3) sheets available. - Original Certified copy of passport. (Certified by issuing office, if you are a foreigner residing in Botswana certify at your embassy). - Clear original certified copies of valid work permit (certified by Botswana labor) and residence permit (certified by Botswana Immigration).Validity not to be less than 3 months) Foreigners visiting Botswana must note that they do not qualify to apply for a Visitor visa to South Africa. Should your Botswana permits be expiring in 90 days from date of intended submission, your application will not be taken. - The prescribed Visa fee + Service Fee are non – refundable. (Cash is not accepted. Swipe credit/debit card or direct cash deposit into the bank i.e. only after getting application checked and verified at the center) - Proof of sufficient financial means contemplated in sub-regulation (3). Three months recent bank statement with a BANK STAMP on it with not less than P3000.00 per applicant. If you submit business bank statements, remember to bring the bank signatory letter. - The application is being submitted in person or by a duly authorized individual with an authorization letter signed by the applicant along with a Government issued Identity document. (Applications of persons who are not in the country will not be accepted) - In addition to the above requirements, in the case of an applicant under the age of 18 years- - A copy of an unabridged birth certificate certified by the issuing office; - Original certified copies of parents passport & valid visa copy (Including Botswana Permits Certified By The Issuing Authorities) - Proof of physical address and contact number of the adult person residing in the Republic, who is acting or has accepted to act as such guardian, including a confirmatory letter from that guardian; and - Proof of consent for the intended stay from both parents, or where applicable, from the parent or legal guardian who has been issued with a court order granting full or specific parental responsibilities and rights or legal guardianship of the minor. - Where applicable, a copy of a court order granting the applicant parental responsibilities and rights in respect of the child - Statement or documentation detailing the purpose and duration of the visit in terms of regulation 11(1)(a) - Where the application is for the attendance of an activity or event, include a letter from the organisation under whose control the activity or event will take place, confirming such attendance and whether or not the foreigner will be remunerated, and if remunerated, the amount of the remuneration. - Copy of yellow fever vaccination certificate if that person travelled or intends travelling from or transiting through a yellow fever endemic area: (Provided that the certificate shall not be required where that person travelled or intends travelling in direct transit through such area) - The affidavit where a spousal relationship to a South African citizen or resident is applicable as well as documentation proving the extent to which the related financial responsibilities are shared by the parties and setting out the particulars of children in the spousal relationship. - Proof of a union recognised in terms of the Recognition of Customary Marriages Act, 1998 (Act No. 120 of 1998), where applicable. - Divorce decree, where applicable. - Death certificate, in respect of late spouse, where applicable. - Legal separation order, where applicable. - Confirmed reservation with proof of transactional payment of the accommodation which you are going to stay at. - Date on hotel reservation should be after the Turn around visa processing time i.e. if application is submitted on the 23rd July reservation should be any day after 28th July - If payment is made by electronic transfer submit (documents stamped at the bank): - EFT slip - TT deposit slip - If payment is made using a Visa Card submit: - Stamped bank statement reflecting the transaction (ensure the name of the hotel reflects on these documents) - If staying with a host who is a citizen, PR holder or temporary resident visa holder in RSA, provide: - Invitation letter (should state duration of stay) - Hosts recent municipality water and light bill (Certified From RSA Police) - Hosts certified copy of ID/permit or proof of PR (Certified From RSA Police) - Hosts recent 3 months bank statement stamped from the bank with minimum of 3000.00 per person - Host should show proof of relation with the applicant - If your host is a business owner or partner in RSA, there may be additional documents e.g. 60% proof of employment of RSA citizens or PR holders as well as the organizational structure of that business in RSA - If you own a property in RSA, provide certified copy of your title deed with recent municipality water and/or light bill (Certified by RSA Police) - If you are renting a property, provide a lease agreement with recent municipality water and/or light bill.(Certified by RSA Police) Notes: No person holding a visitor's visa may apply for a change of status to his or her visa while in the Republic, unless under exceptional circumstances set out below: - Is in need of emergency lifesaving medical treatment for longer than three months; - Is an accompanying spouse or child of a holder of the business or work visa, who wishes to apply for a study or work visa; - Be that the holder's continued stay in the republic is required for any purpose related to a criminal trial in the republic: provided that such application shall be initiated by the relevant deputy director of public prosecutions and addressed to the director-general. Additional Notes; - All copies to be certified by the issuing office and should not be older than 6 months from the date of certification. - Anyone visiting Botswana and is NOT A RESIDENT of Botswana does not qualify to apply for a visa/permit to RSA. - No application is accepted without an accompanying passport.

Documents Required - Complete, accurately filled and signed application form DHA 1738 by the applicant in black ink. - Introduction letter from the applicant specifying the purpose and duration of visit duly signed. - Duly completed application forms completed in black ink - Valid passport, which expires in no less than 90 days after expiry of the intended date of departure from the Republic - Non-refundable payment of the prescribed Visa fee + Service Fee. (Swipe credit/debit card or direct cash deposit into the bank i.e. only after getting application checked and verified at the center) - Two recent passport, size color photographs (35mmx45mm) with white background. (Refer to photo specifications for detailed description of the requirements.) - Original Certified copy of passport. (Certified by issuing office, all foreigner residing in Botswana please certify at your embassy). - Clear original certified copies of valid work permit (Certified by Botswana Labor) and residence permit (Certified by Botswana Immigration with Validity not to be less than 3 months) Foreigners visiting Botswana must note that they do not qualify to apply for a Visitor visa to South Africa. Should your Botswana permits be expiring in 90 days from date of intended submission, your application will not be taken. - Passport should have at least three (3) sheets available. - The application is being submitted in person, no less than 60 days prior to the expiry date of the applicant’s visa and if the visa was issued for less than 30 days, not later than seven working days before the expiry of the visa. - A copy of yellow fever vaccination certificate if that person travelled or intends travelling from or transiting through a yellow fever endemic area: (Provided that the certificate shall not be required where that person travelled or intends travelling in direct transit through such area) - Original Police clearance certificate issued by the police or security authority in each country where the relevant applicant resided for 12 months or longer after attaining the age of 18 years, in respect of criminal records or the character of that applicant, which certificate shall not be older than six months at the time of its submission: (Provided that the certificate shall not be required from a foreign country in the case of renewal or extension of a visa). The Police clearance certificate shall be required in a situation where one is born in a Botswana but is a citizen of another country e.g. Born in Botswana to Zimbabwean parents, a Zimbabwean police clearance will be required. - A medical report not older than 6 months - A radiological report. Provided that a radiological report shall not be required in respect of children under the age of 12 years or pregnant women; (If pregnant please bring doctor’s letter confirming the pregnancy) - Copy of marriage certificate or in the case of a foreign spousal relationship, proof of official recognition thereof issued by the authorities of the foreign country of the applicant certified by issuing office. (Where applicable). - The affidavit where a spousal relationship to a South African citizen or resident is applicable, as well as documentation proving cohabitation and the extent to which the parties share the related financial responsibilities and setting out the particulars of children in the spousal relationship. - Divorce decree, where applicable. - Court order granting full or specific parental responsibilities and rights, where applicable. - Death certificate, in respect of late spouse, where applicable. - Written consent from both parents and full parental responsibilities, where applicable. - Proof of adoption where applicable. - Legal separation order, where applicable. - An official letter confirming provisional acceptance or acceptance at that learning institution and the duration of the course (Stating date-always a future date or else confirmation of space and end date e.g. May 2019- Dec 2020) - It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the learning institution is registered with the Department of Higher education and Training and Department of Basic Education. Proof to be submitted along with the application. Acceptance letters from government schools will NOT be accepted unless if the applicant is paying school fees. - Provide a recent academic transcript for students renewing their study visas - An undertaking by the Registrar or Principal of the learning institution to- - provide proof of registration as contemplated in the relevant legislation within 60 days of registration; or - In the event of failure to register by the closing date, provide the Director-General with a notification of failure to register within 7 days of the closing date of registration; - Within 30 days, notify the Director-General that the applicant is no longer registered with such institution; and - Within 30 days, notify the Director-General when the applicant has completed his or her studies or requires to extend such period of study In addition to the above requirements, in the case of a foreign state accepting responsibility for the applicant in terms of a bilateral agreement: - A written undertaking from such foreign state to pay for the departure of the applicant. - An official letter confirming provisional acceptance or acceptance at that learning institution and the duration of the course. - An undertaking by the Registrar or Principal of the learning institution to- - provide proof of registration as contemplated in the relevant legislation within 60 days of registration; or - In the event of failure to register by the closing date, provide the Director-General with a notification of failure to register within 7 days of the closing date of registration; - Within 30 days, notify the Director-General that the applicant is no longer registered with such institution; and - Within 30 days, notify the Director-General when the applicant has completed his or her studies or requires to extend such period of study - In addition to the above requirements, in the case of a learner under the age of 18 years- - A certified copy of an unabridged birth certificate; - a valid passport; - proof of physical address and contact number of the adult person residing in the Republic, who is acting or has accepted to act as such learner's guardian, including a confirmatory letter from that guardian; and - proof of consent for the intended stay from both parents, or where applicable, from the parent or legal guardian who has been issued with a court order granting full or specific parental responsibilities and rights or legal guardianship of the learner. - Proof of medical cover renewed annually for the period of study with a medical scheme registered in terms of the Medical Schemes Act. Covered for at least 12 months under South African recognized medical schemes. Botswana Medical Aid Schemes are not accepted. - An undertaking by the parents or legal guardian that the learner will have medical cover for the full duration of the period of study - Proof of sufficient financial means available to the learner whilst resident in the Republic, to be proven by means of a current salary advice or a certified bank statement not older than three months at the time of application, stamped and signed at the bank.(Signatory letters from banks for company bank statements). - Proof of residence in RSA in the form of a title deed & utility bill/lease agreement (12 months validity) - If staying with a host who is a citizen, PR holder or temporary resident visa holder in RSA, provide: - Invitation letter (should state duration of stay) - Hosts recent municipality water and light bill (certified from the RSA police) - Hosts certified copy of ID/permit or proof of PR (certified from the RSA police) - Hosts recent 3 months bank statement stamped from the bank with minimum of R3000.00 per person. - Host should show proof of relation with the applicant - If your host is a business owner or partner in RSA, there may be additional documents e.g. 60% proof of employment of RSA citizens or PR holders as well as the organizational structure of that business in RSA - Provide certified copy of Landlord’s ID (certified from the RSA police) - If you own a property in RSA, provide certified copy of your title deed with recent municipality water and light bill (certified by RSA Police) - If you are renting provide a lease agreement with recent municipality water and light bill. Provide certified copy of Landlord ID’s ID ( certified from RSA Police) Notes: - In respect of an application by a person who is a learner under the age of 18 years and is a dependent child of the holder of a visa issued in terms of section 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20 or 22 of the Act, a certified copy of such holder's visa and a written undertaking by parents or legal guardian that the learner will have medical cover for the full duration of the period of study shall be required. - Where the learner is under the age of 18 years and is a dependent child of the holder of a visa issued in terms of section 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20 or 22 of the Act, there is no need for a separate medical aid membership for the applicant where proof exists that the learner is a registered dependent on a medical scheme of a holder of a valid visa. - If the applicant for a study visa is the main applicant and is not accompanying a holder of a valid visa issued in terms of section 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20 or 22 of the Act, then proof of medical cover renewed annually for the period of study with a medical scheme registered in terms of the South African Medical Schemes Act shall be required. - Visas issued for studies at a learning institution, other than a school contemplated in section 1 of the South African Schools Act, 1996 (Act No. 84 of 1996), shall be issued for the duration of the course for which the applicant has registered; - Visas issued for studies at a learning institution, which is a school contemplated in section 1 of the South African Schools Act, 1996 (Act No. 84 of 1996), shall be valid for the duration of the period of study: Provided that the study visa issued for studies at a primary school shall not exceed eight years and for a secondary school shall not exceed six years. - However, any visa issued for studies at all learning institutions to a learner who is a dependent child of the holder of a visa issued in terms of section 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20 or 22 of the Act, shall NOT be issued longer than the validity period of the visa issued to the accompanied parent or accompanied holder of the section 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20 or 22 visa of the Act.

In addition to the above requirements, in the case of a programme of cultural, economic or social exchange organised or administered by an organ of state or a learning institution, in conjunction with a foreign education and training institution or a foreign state institution, submit a letter from: - Proof of a valid return air flight ticket or written undertaking by the organ of state or learning institution accepting responsibility for the return or deportation costs of the applicant, as the case may be - Proof of medical cover for the duration of the exchange period with a medical scheme registered in terms of the Medical Schemes Act. - The organ of state or foreign education and training institution confirming the existence of the exchange programme; or - The foreign education and training institution confirming the enrolment of the applicant or the foreign state institution conducting the programme, as the case may be. (9(1)(a) - Copy of passport certified by issuing office/embassy/commissioner of oats if there is no embassy in Botswana. - Copy of Botswana residence permits for foreigners resident in Botswana with a validity of 90 days at the time of submission certified by Botswana Immigration. Valid Botswana. - The application is being submitted in person, no less than 60 days prior to the expiry date of the applicant’s visa and if the visa was issued for less than 30 days, not later than seven working days before the expiry of the visa. - A copy of yellow fever vaccination certificate if that person travelled or intends travelling from or transiting through a yellow fever endemic area: (Provided that the certificate shall not be required where that person travelled or intends travelling in direct transit through such area) - Original Police clearance certificate issued by the police or security authority in each country where the relevant applicant resided for 12 months or longer after attaining the age of 18 years, in respect of criminal records or the character of that applicant, which certificate shall not be older than six months at the time of its submission: (Provided that the certificate shall not be required from a foreign country in the case of renewal or extension of a visa). The Police clearance certificate shall be required in a situation where one is born in a Botswana but is a citizen of another country e.g. Born in Botswana to Zimbabwean parents, a Zimbabwean police clearance will be required. - A medical report. - A radiological report. Provided that a radiological report shall not be required in respect of children under the age of 12 years or pregnant women; (If pregnant please bring doctor’s letter confirming the pregnancy) - Copy of marriage certificate or in the case of a foreign spousal relationship, proof of official recognition thereof issued by the authorities of the foreign country of the applicant certified by issuing office. (Where applicable) . - The affidavit where a spousal relationship to a South African citizen or resident is applicable, as well as documentation proving cohabitation and the extent to which the related financial responsibilities are shared by the parties and setting out the particulars of children in the spousal relationship. - Divorce decree, where applicable. - Court order granting full or specific parental responsibilities and rights, where applicable. - Death certificate, in respect of late spouse, where applicable. - Written consent from both parents and full parental responsibilities, where applicable. - Proof of adoption where applicable. - Legal separation order, where applicable. - A written undertaking by the employer accepting responsibility for the costs related to the deportation of the applicant and his or her dependent family members, should it become necessary. - Valid contract of employment clearly indicating duration of contract, position and job description (Duties) and duly signed. - A written undertaking by the employer to ensure that the passport of his or her employee is valid at all times for the duration of his or her employment - A certificate by the Department of Labor confirming that- - despite diligent search, the prospective employer has been unable to find a suitable citizen or permanent resident with qualifications or skills and experience equivalent to those of the applicant; - the applicant has qualifications or proven skills and experience in line with the job offer; - the salary and benefits of the applicant are not inferior to the average salary and benefits of citizens or employees occupying similar positions in the Republic; - a contract of employment stipulating the conditions of employment and signed by both the employer and the applicant in line with the labour standards in the Republic and is made conditional upon the general work visa being approved; - Proof of qualifications evaluated by SAQA (South African qualifications authority) and translated by a sworn - Translated into one of the official languages of the Republic; and - Full particulars of the employer, including, where applicable, proof of registration of the business with the Commission on Intellectual Property and Companies (CIPC). - An undertaking by the employer to inform the Director-General; should the applicant not comply with the provisions of the Act, or conditions of the visa. - An undertaking by the employer to inform the Director-General upon the employee no longer being in the employ of such employer or when he or she is employed in a different capacity or role. - Curriculum Vitae of applicant along with certified copies of educational qualification certificates. - Applicable references from the applicant relevant to the position being offered. - Proof of residence in RSA in the form of a title deed & utility bill/lease agreement (12 months validity) - If staying with a host who is a citizen, PR holder or temporary resident visa holder in RSA, provide: Invitation letter (should state duration of stay) Hosts recent municipality water and light bill (Certified From The RSA Police) Hosts certified copy of ID/permit or proof of PR (Certified From The RSA Police) Hosts recent 3 months bank statement stamped from the bank with minimum of P3000.00 per person. Host should show proof of relation with the applicant If your host is a business owner or partner in RSA, there may be additional documents e.g. 60% proof of employment of RSA citizens or PR holders as well as the organizational structure of that business in RSA Provide certified copy of Landlord’s ID (Certified From The RSA Police) If you own a property in RSA, provide certified copy of your title deed with recent municipality water and light bill (Certified By RSA Police) NOTES: - Kindly ensure that all copies of original documents are certified accordingly by the issuing office. - Anyone visiting Botswana and is NOT A RESIDENT of Botswana does not qualify to apply for a visa/permit to RSA. - No application is accepted without an accompanying passport.
