Employment Visa
Issued for the purpose of taking up employment in Brunei Darussalam.
Must be applied through Brunei missions abroad. Typically requires a sponsor/employer in Brunei. Terms and conditions apply. Separate from the work permit (Pas Kerja) which is processed by the Department of Immigration and National Registration after entry.

Issued for the purpose of professional work or expertise required for a particular project in Brunei Darussalam.
Processing: 3 working days at HQ/Kuala Belait, 5 working days at Temburong. Must be sponsored by a government agency or registered company in Brunei. Even nationals qualifying for visa-free/VoA general entry must apply separately for Professional Visit status.

Mandatory work authorization issued by the Department of Immigration and National Registration to foreign nationals taking up employment in Brunei. Must be held in addition to a valid Employment Visa.
Official requirement per the Work Pass Division: foreign nationals working in Brunei must hold BOTH a valid visa AND a valid work pass. The employer's representative first obtains a work visa approval letter; the employee then attends a Brunei mission abroad for the work visa endorsement (with medical check and travel document) before the work pass is issued. Companion document to the Employment Visa, not a substitute for it.

Long-term multiple-entry pass for company owners and foreign investors who meet Brunei's economic contribution criteria, including local job creation and tax compliance.
Valid up to 5 years with multiple-entry. Excludes convenience stores, restaurants, laundries, salons, and non-registered companies. No minimum investment amount stated officially. Pass may be revoked for law violations or failure to provide economic benefits. Effective from 31 December 2024. Does not explicitly lead to permanent residence.
