Burkina Faso operates an official e-visa system via applicant.visaburkina.bf (Ministry of Security / Direction Générale de la Police Nationale). The eVisa authorises entry and stay for a maximum of 90 days for tourism or family purposes. On 11 September 2025, the Council of Ministers (presided over by Capitaine Ibrahim TRAORÉ) adopted a measure waiving visa FEES (not visa requirement) for all nationals of African AU member states (all 54 African Union member states; excludes non-sovereign territories). African nationals still must apply online via the e-visa portal - this is a fee waiver only, not a visa exemption; confirmed by the Council of Ministers statement. Short-stay visa costs (for non-African applicants): Tourist visa 33,000 FCFA single / 55,000 FCFA multiple; Business visa 77,000 FCFA single / 93,500 FCFA multiple; Conference/Studies/Training/Visit visa 55,000 FCFA single / 71,500 FCFA multiple; Express visa 104,500 FCFA. IMPORTANT: US citizens are subject to a total entry and visa ban as of 1 January 2026. On 30 December 2025, Burkina Faso's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the adoption of equivalent/reciprocal visa restrictions against US citizens, in response to the US proclamation of 16 December 2025 placing Burkina Faso under a full entry ban. US citizens are currently unable to obtain a Burkina Faso visa or enter the country.
