Long-Stay Visa (Contract Worker)

For foreign nationals coming to Cameroon to take up salaried employment under a contract of employment, valid 6-12 months.

Salaried/contract workers must present a contract of employment signed by the Minister in charge of employment, per Decree No. 2023/147 of 02 March 2023 implementing Law No. 97/012 of 10 January 1997. Fee XAF 150,000 normal / XAF 200,000 express per diplocam.cm (confirmed 2026-06-29). Cameroon High Commission UK cites EUR 305 for long-stay normal which does not match diplocam.cm; diplocam.cm is the MINREX primary source. Independent/self-employed workers and trainees/interns are covered by separate long-stay entries.

Long-Stay Visa (Student)

For foreign nationals enrolled in Cameroon educational institutions for studies longer than 6 months.

Applied online via evisacam.cm portal (MINREX). Fee XAF 150,000 normal per diplocam.cm (confirmed 2026-06-29). Long-term trainees and students are listed as a category under the long-stay visa scheme per Decree No. 2023/147 of 02 March 2023.

Long-Stay Visa (Family Reunification)

For family members of foreign nationals lawfully residing in Cameroon who wish to join them for an extended period.

Applied online via evisacam.cm portal (MINREX). Family members of aliens staying in Cameroon are an explicit long-stay visa sub-category per Decree No. 2023/147 of 02 March 2023. Fee XAF 150,000 normal per diplocam.cm (confirmed 2026-06-29).

Long-Stay Visa (Independent Worker / Self-Employed)

For foreign nationals establishing in Cameroon to pursue a liberal profession or to run an agricultural, pastoral, industrial, commercial, artistic or similar activity, valid 6-12 months.

Distinct long-stay category under Decree No. 2023/147 of 02 March 2023: independent/self-employed workers must present an authorization to carry out a liberal profession or to promote an agricultural, pastoral, industrial, commercial, artistic or other activity, issued by the relevant authority. Confirmed on the official Cameroon Embassy Japan page (cameroonemb-jp.org). This is the closest Cameroon equivalent to a self-employed/investor residence pathway; no separate investor 'golden visa' with a defined investment threshold exists on official sources. Fee XAF 150,000 normal / XAF 200,000 express per diplocam.cm.

Long-Stay Visa (Trainee / Internship)

For foreign nationals coming to Cameroon for a training programme or internship (stage) lasting more than 6 months.

Applied online via evisacam.cm portal (MINREX). Long-term trainees/interns are an explicit long-stay category under Decree No. 2023/147 of 02 March 2023, requiring an internship certificate signed by the relevant authority (confirmed on the official Cameroon Embassy Japan page, cameroonemb-jp.org). 'Internship' and 'Training' are listed among the recognized long-stay purposes on the evisacam.cm portal. Fee XAF 150,000 normal / XAF 200,000 express per diplocam.cm.

Diplomatic / Courtesy / Official Visa

Entry visa for holders of diplomatic, service, or official passports on official duty from countries that do not have a bilateral visa waiver agreement with Cameroon.

No visa fees charged for diplomatic, service, and special passports on official duty. Bilateral visa waiver agreements exist (full exemption) for: Equatorial Guinea, Egypt, Mali, Brazil, Vietnam, Turkey, China, UAE, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Tunisia, Algeria (Decree No. 2026/034, Jan 2026), Republic of Korea (Decree No. 2025/176, May 2025). Countries not covered by such agreements still require a visa but pay no fee.
