Digital Resident Tourist Visa

Allows remote workers and digital nomads to live in Palau for extended periods while working for employers or clients outside Palau.

Allows two consecutive 90-day extensions per calendar year (total up to 180 days per year). Extension fee is $50 per month. Applied for at the Division of Immigration. Working for Palauan employers or engaging in local commerce is not permitted.

Temporary Visa

Humanitarian or discretionary short-term visa issued at the Director of Immigration's discretion for exceptional circumstances.

No fee. Issued at the discretion of the Director of Bureau of Customs and Border Protection for humanitarian or other exceptional reasons. Maximum stay 30 days.

Crew Member Entry

Allows ship or aircraft crew members short-duration shore leave or layover in Palau.

No fee for stays up to 48 hours. Stays beyond 48 hours require a Tourist or Business Visa at $50 extension fee. $100 PPEF environmental fee is exempt for crew on duty.

Resident Visa

Long-term residency visa for foreign nationals seeking extended stay in Palau outside specific investor or employment categories.

Up to 2-year validity. Fee is $200 USD. Advance application required at the Division of Immigration, MOJ Building, Koror. Processing time 5-10 working days. Does not confer permanent residency or citizenship.

Elite Resident Visa

Premium long-term residency visa for high-net-worth individuals who purchase or lease qualifying property in Palau.

10-year validity, unlimited multiple entries. Initial fee $20,000 USD (non-refundable); renewal fee $10,000 USD. Requires purchase or lease of dwelling for at least $250,000 USD (cash only) from a Palauan citizen, clan, family, NGO, or corporation. Maximum 1,000 non-citizen holders at any time. Applicant must have major medical health insurance and no felony convictions. Does NOT confer permanent residency or citizenship.

Investor Visa

Visa for foreign nationals who have made a qualifying investment in a Palau business, certified by the Foreign Investment Board.

Up to 5-year validity. Fee is $50 USD. Requires at least 25% equity interest in a Palauan business and certification from the Foreign Investment Board. Advance application required. Minimum investment amount not specified on official page.

Government Employee Visa

Visa for foreign nationals employed by the national government, state governments, or public corporations of Palau.

Up to 5-year validity. Fee exempt for the primary holder. Dependents (spouse and children under 21) eligible for Dependent Visa with no fee. Requires proof of government employment in Palau.

FG/IOR Visa (Foreign Government / International Organization Representative)

Visa for representatives of foreign governments or international organizations (such as the UN) conducting official business in Palau.

Up to 5-year validity. Fee exempt. Issued to accredited foreign government officials and international organization representatives on official duty. Accredited diplomatic mission members may also enter without a visa.

Missionary Visa

Visa for foreign nationals affiliated with recognized religious organizations conducting missionary or religious work in Palau.

Up to 5-year validity. Fee exempt for primary missionary holder; $10 USD fee for dependents. Requires affiliation with a recognized religious organization.

Student Visa

Visa for foreign nationals enrolled full-time at an accredited educational institution in Palau.

Maximum 1-year validity. No fee. Requires full-time enrollment at an accredited school and school-maintained (on-campus) housing. Advance application required at the Division of Immigration.

Dependent Visa

Visa for spouses and dependent children of foreign nationals holding a qualifying long-term visa in Palau.

Up to 5-year validity (expires with or when sponsor's primary visa expires). No fee for dependents of government employees. $10 USD fee for dependents of missionary visa holders. Eligible dependents: spouses and children under 21 years of age.

Work Permit

Employment in Palau for foreign nationals working for private-sector employers who hold a valid labor permit issued by the Bureau of Labor & Human Resources.

Two-step process: the foreign national must first obtain a labor permit from the Bureau of Labor & Human Resources, after which the Division of Immigration issues the corresponding Work Permit visa. Validity matches the term of the underlying labor permit. Immigration does not publish a set visa fee - the official page directs applicants to contact the Bureau of Labor & Human Resources regarding fees. Distinct from the Government Employee Visa (which covers national/state government and public-corporation employment). Foreign nationals may work only in accordance with Palau's labor, foreign investment, tax, and other applicable laws; holders of Tourist, Business, Student, or Temporary visas may not work.
