Mali Diplomatic / Official Visa

Visa for holders of diplomatic, official, or service passports travelling to Mali on behalf of their government or an international organization.

Free of charge; 3-year validity, multiple entry per maliembassy.us. Covers diplomatic passport holders and holders of laissez-passer for international organizations. A note verbale from the sending government may be required (noted by ambamali.ca). Some nationalities holding diplomatic/service passports are exempt from visa requirements entirely.

Mali Long-Stay Visa (Visa de Long Sejour - Employment)

Long-stay entry visa for foreign nationals taking up employment or residing in Mali for more than six months; followed by an in-country residence card and work permit.

Mali issues a long-stay visa (visa de long sejour) for stays over six months, used by expatriate workers, employees, and long-term residents. The official 1-year multiple-entry entry-visa fee is USD 370 (Permanent Mission of Mali to the UN, un.int/mali). After arrival, foreign employees must obtain a residence card (carte de sejour) from the Direction Nationale de la Police and a work permit (permis de travail) from the Ministere du Travail; the employer initiates the work-permit application. The carte de sejour is valid up to one year, renewable, and costs roughly 50,000-100,000 XOF locally. There is no separately named work visa instrument - this is the general long-stay entry visa. Mali Long-Stay Visa (Visa de Long Sejour - Studies)

Long-stay entry visa for foreign nationals enrolling at an accredited Malian university or training institution for a course of study exceeding six months.

Foreign students are admitted on the general long-stay visa (visa de long sejour); Mali does not publish a separately named student visa instrument. An admission/enrolment letter from an accredited Malian institution (e.g. University of Bamako, Ecole Polytechnique) is the central supporting document. The long-stay visa tariff applies (see un.int/mali: up to USD 370 for a 1-year multiple-entry visa); a distinct student fee is not separately published.
