Visitors' Entry Permit (Medical Treatment)

Entry for foreign nationals seeking medical treatment in Namibia.

Issued as a Visitors' Entry Permit for medical purposes. Requires documentation from a Namibian medical institution. Fee NAD 1,200; handling fee NAD 80.

Employment Visa / Short Term Employment Permit

Authorizes a foreign national to enter and work in Namibia on a short-term basis for up to 90 days.

Fee NAD 1,100. For employment beyond 90 days or 6 months, a full Employment Permit must be obtained instead. Requires employer sponsorship. Handling fee NAD 80 non-refundable. All applications for work authorization beyond 6 months must follow Employment Permit requirements (see Employment Permit below).

Employment Permit

Grants a foreign national the right to work in Namibia for a defined employer for up to one year, renewable annually.

Fee NAD 2,600 per year (for first application and extensions). Requires employer sponsorship, deed of surety, police clearance (Namibia and country of origin), proof that vacancy was advertised locally, medical and radiological reports, registration with applicable professional board, certified copies of qualifications, and two passport photographs. Processed by the Immigration Selection Board (ISB). Renewable annually.

Student Permit (Study Permit)

Authorizes a foreign national to reside in Namibia for the purpose of full-time study at an accredited institution.

Fee: NAD 1,600/year for primary/secondary school; NAD 2,200/year for tertiary education. Renewable per academic year. Requires proof of acceptance/registration with a Namibian institution, sponsor undertaking, proof of financial support, police clearance (for applicants 18+), medical and radiological reports, and two passport photographs.

Permanent Residence Permit

Grants a foreign national indefinite leave to remain in Namibia on a permanent basis.

Fee NAD 20,000. Requires police clearances from country of origin and Namibia, proof of financial resources, employment references, detailed CV, medical and radiological reports, and two passport photographs. Eligibility typically requires several years of prior lawful residence or qualifying investment. PRP holders may obtain a re-entry visa (NAD 800, valid 2 years) when travelling abroad.

PRP Re-Entry Visa

Allows holders of a Namibian Permanent Residence Permit who travel abroad to re-enter Namibia.

Available to Permanent Residence Permit holders only. Fee NAD 800; validity 2 years. Issued alongside or in conjunction with the PRP.

Temporary Residence Permit (Spouse/Dependent Children)

Issued to the spouse and dependent children of a Namibian citizen or lawful permit holder to reside in Namibia temporarily.

Fee NAD 1,600 per year. Renewable annually. Issued to qualifying dependants (spouse and minor children) of Namibian nationals or permit holders. Full requirements must be confirmed with MHAISS directly.

Digital Nomad Visa

Allows remote workers, freelancers, and self-employed professionals to live and work remotely for their overseas employer or own business while residing in Namibia.

Introduced October 2022. Administered by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB). Minimum income requirement: USD 2,000/month for primary applicant; USD 1,000/month for accompanying spouse; USD 500/month per child. Fee NAD 3,300 payable upon approval. Non-renewable - must wait at least 12 months before reapplying. Cannot take up local employment. Applications submitted online via the Ministry of Home Affairs portal.
