Business Visitor
Short business trips: attend meetings, conferences and events, buy Canadian goods, or receive/give after-sales service - without entering the Canadian labour market
- Not a separate visa: a business visitor travels on a visitor visa (TRV, CAD 100) or an eTA (CAD 7) depending on nationality.
- No work permit needed.
- Main source of income and principal place of business must remain outside Canada.

Transit Visa
Visa-required nationals passing through a Canadian airport en route to another country, transiting in 48 hours or less
- Free of charge (no processing fee).
- Required for visa-required nationals connecting through a Canadian airport for 48 hours or less.
- Not needed if you already hold a valid Canadian visitor visa or are eTA-eligible and flying.
- Separate from the Transit Without Visa (TWOV) and China Transit programs.

International Experience Canada (IEC) โ Working Holiday
Living and working in Canada for up to 1โ2 years (youth, select nationalities)
- Available for youth 18โ35 from over 30 countries via bilateral agreements.

Open Work Permit
Work for almost any employer in Canada with no job offer or LMIA required (e.g., spouses of skilled workers/students, PGWP holders, IEC, PR applicants, vulnerable workers)
- Not job-specific - no LMIA, job offer or employer compliance fee needed.
- Available only in specific situations (spouses/common-law partners of skilled workers or students, PGWP holders, IEC Working Holiday, PR applicants, protected persons, vulnerable workers).
- Fee CAD 255 (CAD 155 work permit + CAD 100 open work permit holder fee).
Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)
Graduates of eligible Canadian designated learning institutions (DLIs) to gain Canadian work experience after finishing their studies
- Open work permit for graduates of eligible DLIs.
- Length matches the study program (minimum 8 months) up to a maximum of 3 years; issued once per person.
- Fee CAD 255 (CAD 155 work permit + CAD 100 open work permit holder fee).

Super Visa (Parents and Grandparents)
Parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit for extended periods
- Multiple-entry visa valid up to 10 years; each stay up to 5 years per entry (extendable by up to 2 more years from inside Canada).
- Requires qualifying medical insurance and proof the host child/grandchild meets the minimum income (LICO).
- Dependants cannot be included.
- Fee CAD 100 (same as a visitor visa).
Spouse or Common-Law Partner Sponsorship (Family Class)
A Canadian citizen or permanent resident sponsoring a spouse, common-law/conjugal partner or dependent child for permanent residence
- Family-class permanent residence pathway (not a temporary visa).
- Sponsor must be 18+ and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Total fee CAD 1,260 (includes sponsorship, processing and right of permanent residence fees).
- A spouse/partner being sponsored from inside Canada may also apply for an open work permit while the application is processed.
