Work Pass (Pas Kerja)

Mandatory work authorization issued by the Department of Immigration and National Registration to foreign nationals taking up employment in Brunei. Must be held in addition to a valid Employment Visa.

  • Official requirement per the Work Pass Division: foreign nationals working in Brunei must hold BOTH a valid visa AND a valid work pass.
  • The employer's representative first obtains a work visa approval letter; the employee then attends a Brunei mission abroad for the work visa endorsement (with medical check and travel document) before the work pass is issued.
  • Companion document to the Employment Visa, not a substitute for it.
