🇲🇱Mali Visa for Marshall Islands Citizens2026 Requirements, Fees & Documents
Marshall Islands passport holders can apply online for a Mali e-Visa before travel. Unlike an eTA, this is an actual visa — just issued digitally — so no embassy visit is needed for eligible short-term visits. Eligibility and covered purposes vary, so check the conditions below.
Visa applications and payments are processed fully online via the Malian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. An entry permit is issued electronically once approved. There is no need to send documents to a Malian Embassy. Confirmed by the UK FCDO travel advice page (updated June 2026) which references the portal at diplomatiemmc.gouv.ml/vitrine/. The Mali Embassy in Washington DC also links to this portal for all visa applications. The MFA portal (diplomatiemdc.gouv.ml/vitrine/) was re-checked in June 2026 - it presents an interactive nationality checker ('Ai-je besoin d'un visa pour voyager au Mali?') with ordinary, diplomatic, special, refugee, and UN laissez-passer passport types. Note: the portal URL appearing in official sources varies slightly between 'diplomatiemdc.gouv.ml' and 'diplomatiemmc.gouv.ml'.

Yellow fever vaccination certificate mandatory. US citizens are currently subject to a reciprocal entry ban effective January 1, 2026 (with limited exceptions).

Business trips are commonly issued a 3-to-6-month multiple-entry visa. Official tariff (Permanent Mission of Mali to the UN, un.int/mali): 3-month multiple entry USD 110, 6-month multiple entry USD 200, 1-year multiple entry USD 370. US citizens are charged a flat USD 185 (up to 5 years, multiple entry) by the Mali Embassy in Washington DC. Apply online via diplomatiemdc.gouv.ml/vitrine/. Yellow fever certificate mandatory. US citizens currently subject to a reciprocal entry ban (effective January 1, 2026).

These don't apply to a typical short visit, but cover other reasons people travel to Mali. Eligibility varies by visa type — some are limited to specific nationalities, so check each one's conditions.
Mali Diplomatic / Official Visa
Visa for holders of diplomatic, official, or service passports travelling to Mali on behalf of their government or an international organization.
Free of charge; 3-year validity, multiple entry per maliembassy.us. Covers diplomatic passport holders and holders of laissez-passer for international organizations. A note verbale from the sending government may be required (noted by ambamali.ca). Some nationalities holding diplomatic/service passports are exempt from visa requirements entirely.
Apply here ↗Mali Long-Stay Visa (Visa de Long Sejour - Employment)
Long-stay entry visa for foreign nationals taking up employment or residing in Mali for more than six months; followed by an in-country residence card and work permit.
Mali issues a long-stay visa (visa de long sejour) for stays over six months, used by expatriate workers, employees, and long-term residents. The official 1-year multiple-entry entry-visa fee is USD 370 (Permanent Mission of Mali to the UN, un.int/mali). After arrival, foreign employees must obtain a residence card (carte de sejour) from the Direction Nationale de la Police and a work permit (permis de travail) from the Ministere du Travail; the employer initiates the work-permit application. The carte de sejour is valid up to one year, renewable, and costs roughly 50,000-100,000 XOF locally. There is no separately named work visa instrument - this is the general long-stay entry visa. Apply online via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal.
Apply here ↗Mali Long-Stay Visa (Visa de Long Sejour - Studies)
Long-stay entry visa for foreign nationals enrolling at an accredited Malian university or training institution for a course of study exceeding six months.
Foreign students are admitted on the general long-stay visa (visa de long sejour); Mali does not publish a separately named student visa instrument. An admission/enrolment letter from an accredited Malian institution (e.g. University of Bamako, Ecole Polytechnique) is the central supporting document. The long-stay visa tariff applies (see un.int/mali: up to USD 370 for a 1-year multiple-entry visa); a distinct student fee is not separately published. After arrival, students obtain a residence card (carte de sejour) from the Direction Nationale de la Police. Apply online via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal.
