Restricted Employment Visa (REV)

Allows businesses to sponsor foreign workers with recognised qualifications and experience in fields not available locally, primarily in Oil & Gas, Mining, and major corporate or agricultural companies.

Business Visa class. 30-day single entry per use; not extendable; maximum 4 uses per year. Available online (eVisa) for nationals from eligible countries. eVisa fee USD 50. Requires cover letter from PNG-based sponsor, passport bio page, prescribed migration fee, and proof of return ticket.

Work Visa

For foreign nationals employed in the private sector in Papua New Guinea requiring formal work authorisation.

Working Resident Employment Visa. Application must be submitted by the employer through the Sponsor Portal at www.ica.gov.pg. Extension fee USD 700; late extension USD 1,350. Requires: employee passport bio page, CV, job description, certified qualifications, signed employment contract, two colour passport photos, right thumb print, professional registration evidence, IPA Certificate of Incorporation, police clearance, medical report including X-ray, and Maintenance Guarantee Bond signed by employer. HIV test required for applicants over 16 years of age for long-term stays.

Working Resident – Consultant/Specialist

For consultants and specialists providing services in large corporate, Oil & Gas, and Mining companies for short stays of up to 90 days.

Business Person/Investor Visa

For business persons or investors who want to do business and invest in Papua New Guinea.

Working Dependent Visa

Extension visa for dependents previously under Working Resident Dependent status who wish to seek employment in Papua New Guinea.

Applicable when: legally dependent spouse with teaching/medical/other essential qualification decides to obtain employment; person has changed marital status while in PNG; person completed employment obligations and seeking new employer; or company name change. Dependent Visa (Working Resident)

Student Visa – Occupational Trainee

Aid Worker/Volunteer Visa

Research Academic Visa

Medical Workers Visa

Working Resident Employment class. This is the working counterpart to the 'Dependent of Citizen (Non-Working)' class - it permits an eligible dependent of a PNG citizen to seek employment. Permanent Residence – Long-Term Resident

For foreign nationals who have lawfully resided in Papua New Guinea for a minimum of 5 years and meet eligibility criteria including CEOs, investors, skilled professionals, missionaries, or retirees.

Permanent Residence class. Eligibility: Minimum 5 years lawful residency in PNG; must hold a current PNG entry permit; working knowledge of English or a PNG language. Eligible categories: (1) CEOs of companies with 250+ employees and K10M+ annual turnover operating 5+ years; (2) Majority owners of a registered business with net assets/turnover >K2M or property investment >K10M in PNG for 5+ years; (3) Skilled professionals (medical doctors, specialists, educationists) with tertiary qualifications and 5+ years in PNG; (4) Missionaries/religious workers with 5+ years in PNG and K25,000+/year income or written guarantee; (5) Retirees over age 55 with K50,000+/year income who worked in PNG 5+ years; (6) Legally married spouse of PNG citizen for 5+ years. After 8+ years, can apply for citizenship by naturalization. Dependent PR fee covered by principal.

Designated Events Visa

For foreign nationals attending designated events approved by the Government of Papua New Guinea.
