Work Permit (Çalışma İzni)

Employment in Turkey

Issued by Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Employer-sponsored application. Initial permit 1 year, extendable to 3 years then indefinite. Applicant must apply within Turkey on a valid residence permit or from abroad.

Student Visa

Full-time study at Turkish educational institutions

For study programs at Turkish universities and language schools. Requires official acceptance letter from a registered Turkish educational institution. Applied via the official visa pre-application system (visa.gov.tr) and Turkish embassy/consulate. Upon arrival, student must register with authorities and obtain student residence permit.

Turkish Citizenship by Investment

Citizenship via real estate or capital investment

Routes: (1) Real estate investment USD 400,000+ (held 3 years); (2) Capital investment USD 500,000+ in Turkish company or government bonds; (3) Employment creation (50+ employees). Citizenship granted directly - no residency period required. Application filed with General Directorate of Migration Management. Citizenship confers Turkish passport and full rights. Dual citizenship permitted.

Medical Treatment Visa

Foreign nationals seeking medical treatment at Turkish healthcare facilities, plus accompanying persons

Issued for medical treatment in Türkiye; a separate 'Accompaniment' visa is available for a companion of the patient. Applied at Turkish missions via the official visa pre-application system. For extended treatment the stay can be continued on a short-term residence permit from the Presidency of Migration Management. Fee varies by nationality.

Family Unification Visa

Spouse, children or dependants joining a family member who is a Turkish citizen or legal resident

Listed under Türkiye's 'Other' visa category as Family Unification. Applied at a Turkish mission via the official visa pre-application system; on arrival the holder obtains a family residence permit from the Presidency of Migration Management. Fee and requirements vary by nationality and sponsor status.

Digital Nomad Visa

Remote workers and freelancers employed by or contracting with companies based outside Türkiye

Launched 2024 via the official GoTürkiye platform. Requirements: aged 21-55, a university degree, and minimum income of USD 3,000/month (USD 36,000/year); work must be for companies outside Türkiye. Two steps: obtain a Digital Nomad Identification Certificate online, then apply for the visa at a Turkish consulate. Grants a short-term residence permit up to 1 year, renewable. Open to nationals of 34 eligible countries (EU/EEA, UK, USA, Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, etc.).

Turquoise Card (Turkuaz Kart)

Highly qualified professionals, scientists, investors, and prominent cultural/sports figures - grants indefinite work rights

Issued by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (International Labour Force Directorate) to qualified foreigners, investors, scientists, and cultural figures. Confers rights equivalent to an indefinite (permanent) work permit. Issued with a 3-year transition period that becomes indefinite on application before expiry (extension requests within 180 days of expiry). Spouse and dependent children receive documents serving as residence permits. Distinct from the standard employer-tied work permit.
