• This is the standard employment route (distinct from the EDB-administered Occupation Permit).
• A foreign worker requires BOTH a Residence Permit from the Passport and Immigration Office AND a Work Permit from the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations, Employment and Training.
• Applications are made simultaneously by the employer through the e-Work Permit portal (workpermit.mu) using the Common Application Form for Work Permit / Certificate of Exemption.
• Residence Permit fee is RS 500 (approx. USD 11) per year per non-citizen worker, payable before issuance.

• Requires marriage certificate, police clearance under 6 months old, supporting letter from the citizen spouse, and financial evidence.
• Residence Permit is free of cost.

For non-citizens undertaking a full-time practical training, industrial placement, or internship with a local firm or company in Mauritius.
