Autorització de treball temporal de fronterer (Temporary/Seasonal Cross-border Worker Authorization)

Allows foreign nationals residing outside Andorra to work in Andorra temporarily (seasonal) on a cross-border commuting basis, sleeping habitually outside Andorran territory.

Procedure G.2. Applicant must maintain legal residence outside Andorra and sleep habitually outside Andorran territory. Duration adjusted to a predetermined season of the year (e.g. winter ski/hospitality season). Requires a fixed-term contract with a company legally constituted in Andorra. Government issuance fee EUR 190.96. The permanent (non-seasonal) cross-border worker is a separate authorization (procedure C.1). Art. 24-25 of the Qualified Immigration Law.

Procedure G.1. Duration up to 12 months; non-renewable (mandatory waiting period before a subsequent temporary authorization). Specific labor activity in a designated sector required. Temporary authorization for young foreign nationals to gain professional experience and training while working in Andorra.

Procedure G.3. Targets young workers under a specified age limit. Government issuance fee EUR 22.61. This is the immigration work-permit route for young workers; a separate bilateral Work & Holiday mobility programme (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) also exists for nationals of partner countries. Allows employees of foreign companies (EU, EFTA, or G7 registered) to provide services in Andorra temporarily.

Procedure H.2 (assignments over 30 days). Eligible companies must be registered in EU, EFTA, or G7 countries. Duration up to 12 months; exceptions for public interest projects may exceed this. Valid health/accident insurance coverage required. For assignments up to 30 days per year use the short-duration work notification (procedure H.1). Government issuance fee EUR 190.96. Autorització de treball sense residència (Work Without Residence Authorization)

Allows foreign nationals to work for a company legally constituted in Andorra while residing abroad, without establishing residence in Andorra.

Procedure I.1 (initial); I.2 (renewal). Authorizes working from abroad for a company legally constituted in Andorra, residing abroad throughout the period. Government issuance fee EUR 190.96 (initial), EUR 22.61 (renewal). Added by modified immigration law 16/2013 (Art. 28 bis of the Qualified Immigration Law).

Autorització de residència i treball per compte propi (Self-Employment Residence and Work Authorization)

Allows foreign nationals to establish a self-employed business or professional activity in Andorra.

Procedure J.1 (initial); J.2 (renewal); a prior reservation of the authorization (procedure J) is required. Foreign investment authorization required. Minimum capital participation of 34% in the Andorran entity. Non-refundable AFA contribution of EUR 50,000 (plus EUR 12,000 per dependent). Must reside at least 183 days per year. Professional authorization and professional association registration mandatory for regulated professions. Reservation period of 6 months. Facilitates collective recruitment of workers in their home countries for employment in Andorra.

Collective contract processing in workers' home countries. Internal transfers allowed within a company group if all entities are identified. Fee: €190.96. Specific procedures established by government regulation.

Residence and work authorization for teachers and administrative staff at recognized educational institutions in Andorra.

Autorització de residència per raons de reagrupament familiar (Family Reunification Authorization)

Allows foreign nationals to join family members who are legally resident in Andorra.

Procedure B.1 (initial); B.2 (renewal). Eligible sponsors: Andorran nationals and foreign residents with a residence and work authorization. Eligible family members: spouse, children, and dependent parents. Spouse and children of working residents gain work authorization; other family members on a case-by-case basis. Government issuance fee EUR 22.61. Renewable; duration linked to the sponsor's authorization (Art. 31 and 107-111 of the Qualified Immigration Law).

Autorització de residència sense activitat lucrativa (Residence Without Lucrative Activity)

Passive residency for financially self-sufficient foreign nationals who wish to reside in Andorra without engaging in any economic activity.

Procedure D.1 (initial); D.2 (renewal). Minimum investment of EUR 1,000,000 in Andorran assets (real estate, corporate shares, debt instruments, collective investment funds, public debt, life insurance, or non-remunerated AFA deposits). Reduced to EUR 400,000 if directed to the Andorran Housing Fund. Non-refundable AFA contribution of EUR 50,000 for the principal applicant plus EUR 12,000 per dependent (made non-refundable by Llei 2/2026). Separate government issuance fee EUR 3,000 (initial) and EUR 500 (renewal). Investment must be completed within 6 months (extendable by 6 months). Minimum stay: 90 days per calendar year. Work/business activity not permitted. Initial authorization valid 2 years; first renewal 2 years; second renewal 3 years; subsequent renewals 10 years. Requires health screening by Immigration Medical Service and private health/disability insurance covering 100% of expenses in Andorra. Autorització de residència per a professionals amb projecció internacional (Residency for Professionals with International Projection)

Residency authorization for recognized professionals, executives, and entrepreneurs whose activity generates at least 85% of income or work outside Andorra.

For professionals and entrepreneurs with an international client base; at least 85% of income/work must come from outside Andorra. Requires establishing or acquiring an Andorran company (minimum 34% shareholding). Non-refundable AFA contribution of €50,000 plus €12,000 per dependent. Investment of €1,000,000 in Andorran assets required (post-Llei 2/2026). Minimum stay: 90 days per year. Duration: 2-year initial; renewals at 2, 3, then 10 years. Autorització de residència per a persones d'interès científic, cultural i esportiu (Scientific, Cultural, and Sports Interest Authorization)

Residency authorization for internationally recognized researchers, artists, and professional athletes whose presence is of special interest to Andorra.

Requires demonstrable international prestige in the respective scientific, cultural, or sports field. Renewable. Art. 33 and 100-101 of the Qualified Immigration Law.

Autorització de residència per a nòmada digital (Digital Nomad Residency Authorization)

Residency authorization for remote workers employed by foreign companies or self-employed serving exclusively non-Andorran clients, working via telecommunications from Andorra.

Introduced by Llei 42/2022 del 1 de desembre (Digital Economy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Law). Annual quota: 50 permits for digital nomads, with a combined ceiling of 100 shared with the entrepreneurship program. Eligible for employees of foreign employers or self-employed workers serving non-Andorran clients only. No local Andorran clients or employers permitted. No requirement to incorporate an Andorran entity. Exempt from the €50,000 AFA non-refundable contribution. Private health and disability insurance required. Minimum stay: 90 days per calendar year. Initial authorization 2 years; first renewal 2 years; second renewal 3 years; subsequent renewals 10 years. Art. 33 bis and 101 quater-quinquies of the Qualified Immigration Law.

Autorització de residència i treball per a víctimes de tràfic d'éssers humans (Post-Trafficking Residence and Work Authorization)

Temporary residence and work authorization for victims of human trafficking during and after their recovery period.

Humanitarian protection category. Added by anti-trafficking law 9/2017. Available to human trafficking victims after their protection/reflection period. Duration follows the recovery period. Art. 28 quater of the Qualified Immigration Law.

Temporary residence and work authorization for beneficiaries of humanitarian protection in Andorra.

Added by humanitarian protection law 4/2018. For persons granted temporary protection status. Duration is transitional and temporary. Art. 28 quinquies of the Qualified Immigration Law.

Autorització de residència per a persones dependents (Dependent Persons Residency Authorization)

Residency authorization for economically dependent family members of principal authorization holders in Andorra.

Duration linked to the sponsor/principal authorization holder's permit. Requires documentation of economic dependency and family relationship. Additional financial requirements apply: principal must demonstrate 300% of annual minimum salary plus 100% per dependent. Government issuance fee EUR 1,000 for the dependent (resident a càrrec). Treball de fronterer (Cross-border/Frontier Worker Authorization)

Permanent cross-border work: allows foreign nationals to work in Andorra on an ongoing basis while residing and sleeping habitually outside Andorran territory.

Procedure C.1 (initial); C.2 (renewal). Authorizes permanent work in Andorra during the authorization period, but the holder must sleep habitually outside Andorran territory (typically commuters from Spain or France). Requires an employment contract with a company legally constituted in Andorra. First authorization 1 year, renewable. Government issuance fee EUR 190.96 (initial), EUR 22.61 (renewal). Distinct from the seasonal/temporary cross-border worker (procedure G.2). Art. 24-25 of the Qualified Immigration Law.

Programa de mobilitat per a joves Work & Holiday (Work and Holiday Mobility Programme)

Bilateral youth mobility programme letting young nationals of partner countries live, work and travel in Andorra for a cultural and professional experience.

Administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (not the Immigration Service). Open to nationals aged 18-30 of partner countries listed on the official page: Canada, Ireland, Germany, United Kingdom, Republic of Korea and Iceland (the application form additionally lists Norway and Malta).
