E-Tourist Card (Entry Fee - Single Entry)

Short-term tourism and family visits to Suriname. Applies to the majority of world passport holders not covered by CARICOM exemption or the 21-country full e-visa requirement.

E-Tourist Card (Entry Fee - Multiple Entry)

Short-term tourism and family visits to Suriname with up to 5 entries over a 3-month window. Introduced from 1 January 2025 (pilot for Brazilian and French Guiana nationals), expanded to all entry-fee-eligible nationalities from 1 May 2025.

E-Visa (Tourist/Visit)

Entry authorization for nationals of 21 countries that had their visa-free status reinstated as a full visa requirement from 1 May 2023. Covers tourism and family visits.

Business E-Visa

Short-term entry for business purposes including attending conferences, training sessions, exploratory visits, and other commercial activities.

Short-Stay Work Authorization (MKV - Machtiging voor Kort Verblijf)

Authorizes foreign nationals to enter Suriname for short-term work or internship purposes of up to 3 months, or as a precursor authorization for longer work stays.

Work Permit (Werkvergunning)

Authorizes a foreign national to be employed by a Surinamese employer or work in Suriname on a longer-term basis.

Temporary Residence Permit (Verblijfsvergunning voor bepaalde tijd)

Grants a foreign national the right to reside in Suriname for a fixed period of up to 2 years, renewable before expiration.

Permanent Residence Permit (Verblijfsvergunning voor onbepaalde tijd)

Grants a foreign national the right to reside indefinitely in Suriname without need for periodic renewal.

Transit (Visa-Free Airside/Landside)

Allows passengers transiting through Suriname's Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport or land border crossings to proceed without a visa or entry fee.

Diplomatic/Official/Service Passport Entry (Fee-Exempt)

Entry for holders of diplomatic, official, service, or special passports of any nationality, who are exempt from the Entry Fee requirement.

Temporary Stay Visa (KV - Kort Verblijf)

Entry visa issued to visa-required foreigners who hold an approved MKV and intend to stay in Suriname longer than 90 days (for work, study, family reunification or residence).

Student Visa / Study Residence (via MKV)

Foreign nationals admitted to a recognised Surinamese educational institution (e.g. Anton de Kom University of Suriname) for full-time study exceeding 90 days.

Family Reunification Residence Permit (via MKV)

Spouses, registered partners, dependent children and dependent parents of a Surinamese national or of a foreigner legally residing in Suriname, joining them for stays exceeding 90 days.
