Work Visa (Is)

Issued to foreign nationals authorized to work in Uzbekistan under a legal employment contract or labor agreement.

Requires prior approval from the Agency for External Labor Migration. Employer must obtain a work permit before visa is issued.

Student Visa (A-1)

Issued to foreign nationals enrolled full-time in an educational institution in Uzbekistan.

Valid up to 1 year, renewable. Requires acceptance letter and enrollment confirmation from an accredited Uzbekistan educational institution.

Short-Term Student Exchange Visa (STD)

Issued to foreign nationals participating in short-term student exchange programs with Uzbekistan educational institutions.

For structured exchange programs. Validity aligned with program duration, up to 1 year.

Teaching / Educational Staff Visa (A-2)

Issued to foreign nationals taking up teaching positions at educational institutions in Uzbekistan.

Requires contract with an accredited Uzbekistan educational institution. Valid up to 1 year.

Academic Research / Lecturer Visa (A-3)

Issued to foreign scientists, researchers, and lecturers conducting academic research or delivering lectures at Uzbekistan institutions.

Validity ranges from 3 months to 2 years depending on the research or lecture program duration.

Medical Treatment Visa (WITH)

Issued to foreign nationals travelling to Uzbekistan to receive medical treatment at a licensed healthcare facility.

Requires confirmation letter from an accredited medical institution in Uzbekistan. Valid up to 3 months.

Private / Guest Visit Visa - Invited by Uzbek Citizen (PV-1)

Issued to foreign nationals visiting Uzbekistan at the invitation of a citizen or permanent resident of Uzbekistan.

Inviting party must be a citizen or permanent resident of Uzbekistan. Valid up to 1 year.

Private / Guest Visit Visa - Invited by Foreign Resident (PV-2)

Issued to foreign nationals visiting Uzbekistan at the invitation of a foreign national legally residing in Uzbekistan.

Inviting party must be a foreign national holding a valid residence permit in Uzbekistan. Valid up to 1 year.

Compatriot Family Visit Visa (VTD)

Issued to foreign nationals who are relatives of Uzbek citizens residing abroad, visiting family members in Uzbekistan.

Valid up to 2 years. Intended for relatives of Uzbek diaspora members or compatriots. Documentation of family relationship required.

Investment Visa (INV)

Multiple-entry visa issued to foreign investors who have made qualifying investments in Uzbekistan, facilitating repeated business travel related to their investment.

Valid up to 3 years, multiple entry. Minimum investment threshold is approximately USD 8,500 or more to qualify. Different from the RBI golden visa/residence permit programs which require USD 100,000–$3,000,000+.

Pilgrimage / Religious-Cultural Heritage Visa (PLG)

Issued to foreign nationals visiting Uzbekistan for religious pilgrimages or study of cultural and religious heritage sites.

Valid up to 2 months. Intended for religious visitors to Uzbekistan's historic Islamic sites (Samarkand, Bukhara, etc.) and cultural heritage travel.

Diplomatic Entry Visa - Permanent Accreditation (D-1)

Entry visa for foreign diplomatic staff with permanent accreditation to Uzbekistan.

Valid for the duration of the accreditation period. Issued to holders of diplomatic passports with full accreditation to Uzbekistan. No fee applies to diplomatic visas.

Temporary Diplomatic Stay Visa (D-2)

Temporary stay visa for diplomatic passport holders on short-term missions or visits to Uzbekistan.

Valid up to 3 months. For diplomatic passport holders on temporary assignment.

Diplomatic Tourist Visa (DT)

Issued to diplomatic passport holders travelling to Uzbekistan for personal tourism purposes.

Up to 1 month. For private tourism by holders of diplomatic passports.

Service Entry Visa - Permanent Accreditation (S-1)

Entry visa for embassy support staff, NGO representatives, and service-category personnel with permanent accreditation.

Valid for the accreditation period. For service passport holders with formal accreditation.

Temporary Service Stay Visa (S-2)

Temporary stay visa for service passport holders on short-term official missions in Uzbekistan.

Valid up to 3 months.

Service Entry Visa - State Organization Invitation (S-3)

Issued to foreign nationals invited by Uzbekistan state organizations for official business or project-related visits.

Valid up to 1 year. Requires formal invitation from a recognized Uzbekistan state body.

Official / State Visit Visa

Issued to members of official state delegations visiting Uzbekistan for government-level meetings and state visits.

Validity aligned with the duration of the official event. Restricted to official government delegations.

Journalist Visa - Permanent Accreditation (J-1)

Issued to foreign journalists and media representatives with permanent accreditation to work in Uzbekistan.

Valid for the accreditation period. Requires accreditation from the Uzbekistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service.

Journalist Visa - Temporary Accreditation (J-2)

Issued to foreign journalists on temporary assignment or event coverage in Uzbekistan.

Valid for the duration of the temporary accreditation or assignment.

Crew Member Visa (C-1)

Issued to crew members of international aircraft and railway services transiting or operating in Uzbekistan.

Valid up to 1 year, multiple entry. For international transport crew members on commercial routes.

Freight Driver Visa (C-2)

Issued to foreign commercial freight vehicle drivers operating on international routes through or into Uzbekistan.

Valid up to 1 year, multiple entry. For international truck drivers on commercial freight routes.

Emergency Exit Visa (EXIT)

Issued to foreign nationals who have overstayed their permitted period and require authorization to depart Uzbekistan.

Up to 1 month. Issued to resolve overstay situations and allow lawful departure. Applied for at the relevant immigration authority.

IT Visa

Long-term visa for foreign IT specialists, IT Park resident founders, and IT-sector investors to live and work in Uzbekistan without a separate work permit.

Valid 3 years, renewable every 3 years. Allows work in Uzbekistan without a work permit and grants social rights equal to citizens; immediate family members may also obtain the visa. Eligibility (per rules updated 7 March 2026): IT specialists must confirm IT income of at least USD 30,000 over the prior 12 months; IT-sector investors qualify with financing of at least USD 10,000 to a resident IT legal entity; founders of IT Park resident companies are also eligible. Applied online via itvisa.uz; also enables IT Park resident status.
