Entry Permit – General Nationalities
Allows foreign nationals (excluding US, Palau, and Marshall Islands citizens) to extend their stay in FSM beyond the initial 30-day visa-free period, up to a maximum of 90 days total.
- Entry permit required for stays exceeding 30 days.
- Maximum permitted stay via entry permit is 90 days for general nationalities.

Entry Permit – US, Palau, Marshall Islands Citizens
Allows US citizens and nationals of Palau and the Marshall Islands to stay in FSM for extended periods, with entry permits valid for the duration of the visit up to one year at a time.
- US citizens have an unlimited right to live, work, and study in FSM under the Compact of Free Association (Section 142(a)); entry permits are renewable with no statutory cap on total stay.
- Palau and Marshall Islands nationals are entitled to entry permits for up to one year (vs. 90-day cap for other nationalities).

- US passport must be valid for at least 180 days from date of entry per travel.state.gov guidance.
EU Short-Stay Visa Waiver (90-Day)
Allows citizens of EU member states (excluding Ireland) to visit FSM for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa, under the bilateral EU-FSM visa waiver agreement.
- Covers holders of ordinary, diplomatic, service/official, and special passports issued by EU member states.
- Ireland and the UK are excluded and fall under the general 30-day visa-free regime.
- Does not apply to travel for paid activity.

Salesperson's Permit
Foreign nationals engaging in wholesale or retail sales, or taking orders, without establishing a local business presence in FSM.
- Established under FSM Code Title 50 sec. 103(5): for a noncitizen engaging in wholesale/retail sales or taking orders without establishing a local business presence.
- Short business visits of 30 days or less need no permit under the general visitor regime.

Diplomatic/Service Passport Visa Exemption – Israel
Allows Israeli nationals holding diplomatic or service passports to enter FSM without a visa for visits not exceeding 90 days within any six-month period.
- Applies only to diplomatic and service passport holders.
- Ordinary passport holders from Israel fall under the general 30-day visa-free regime.
- Diplomatic/consular staff and household family members do not need a visa within 30 days of entry; full-term visas required thereafter.

Alien Worker's Permit
Foreign nationals entering FSM to take up authorized private or government employment; the main FSM work-authorization category for noncitizens.
- Established under FSM Code Title 50 sec. 103(6): issued to a noncitizen entering FSM for employment upon compliance with all national laws relating to private or governmental employment.
- The employer must first obtain nonresident-worker employment authorization from the Division of Immigration & Labor (FSM Department of Justice, passport@doj.gov.fm).
- All entry permits are capped at one year with provision for renewal (sec. 104(1)); fee is set by presidential executive order (sec. 112) and is not published online.
Foreign Investor's Permit
Foreign nationals investing in or operating a business in FSM; tied to an underlying Foreign Investment Permit (foreign investor's business permit).
- Established under FSM Code Title 50 sec. 103(7): issued for a specified duration and renewable upon renewal or extension of the holder's foreign investor's business permit.
- Requires a Foreign Investment Permit under the Foreign Investment Act 1997, administered by the state government / FSM Department of Economic Affairs (regulations: https://www.fsmlaw.org/fsm/regulations/forinvreg.htm).
- This is an immigration entry permit, not a citizenship- or residency-by-investment programme.

Student's Permit
Foreign nationals enrolled in a school or educational program in FSM.
Established under FSM Code Title 50 sec. 103(3): issued for a specified duration reflecting the student's enrollment in a school or educational program. Capped at one year with provision for renewal (sec. 104(1)); fee by presidential executive order (sec. 112).
