Visitor Visa - Multiple Entry (Dependents, up to 2 years)

Long-validity multiple-entry visitor visa for dependents visiting a resident in Botswana for over three months and up to two years.

Validity covers over 3 months up to 2 years. Intended for dependents of residents. Processing is stated as 21 working days.

Employment Visa

Authorizes non-citizens to travel to Botswana for employment, internship, research, work, or voluntary services. A valid work permit and residence permit must already be held.

The Employment Visa is the entry visa; a separate Work Permit and Residence Permit are prerequisites. The dedicated gov.bw Employment Visa page states processing of 7-14 working days and does not publish a fee. Investor Visa - Multiple Entry (up to 6 months)

For foreign nationals investing in Botswana, allowing multiple entries for up to six months. Requires certificate of incorporation, trade license, and financial documentation.

Processing is stated as 21 working days. Investors may separately apply for Permanent Residence - Investor Category via gov.bw.

Investor Visa - Multiple Entry (up to 5 years)

Long-validity multiple-entry visa for established foreign investors in Botswana, valid for up to five years. Requires certificate of incorporation, trade license, share valuations, and financial documentation.

Processing is stated as 21 working days. The 5-year investor visa is the longest validity category listed on the Embassy fee schedule.

Study Visa

For non-citizens who have been accepted by an educational institution in Botswana and require a visa to enter to study.

The Study Visa is the entry visa; a separate Study/Research Permit is a prerequisite to study. Required documents include a letter of acceptance from the educational institution, the study/research permit, and proof of sponsorship. Fee not published on the gov.bw page; processing 7-14 working days.

Botswana Blue Card

Grants former Botswana citizens who have renounced their citizenship the right to unlimited stay in Botswana, including visitation, residency, and work privileges.

Eligibility is restricted to former Botswana citizens (those who renounced citizenship after being born in or descended from Botswana). Spouses and children born after renunciation are not eligible unless they independently qualify. Blue Card holders cannot obtain an Omang (national ID) or Botswana passport. The $300 fee is non-refundable. Required documents: completed application form, certified passport copy, renunciation certificate, acquired citizenship proof, two passport photos.
