Family Visit Visa (Consular / Embassy-Issued)

'Family visit' is one of the official Purpose-of-Trip categories on the Liberian visa application form (revised 2025-04-15) and is issued through the standard 'Regular' consular visa channel (Liberian missions issue only Diplomatic, Official, or Regular visas). Same validity-tiered fees as the consular tourist/business visa: single-entry 1-3 months USD 70; multiple-entry 1 year USD 150; 2 years USD 250; 3 years USD 350 (US citizens USD 180 for a 3-year multiple-entry visa). Typically supported by an invitation letter from the host/relative in Liberia; passport valid 6+ months and yellow fever vaccination certificate required. Standard processing ~12 working days; expedite +USD 75 (same-day) or +USD 50 (next-day). Issued to nationals of the ~23 countries with a Liberian mission (not eligible for e-VoA). ECOWAS citizens are visa-exempt. One of the three visa types Liberian missions issue ('Visas issued are one of the following types: Diplomatic, Official, or Regular'). Intended for diplomats and other foreign government officials travelling to Liberia 'solely to engage in official duties or activities on behalf of their national government'; immediate family members and personal employees/attendants/domestic workers of eligible officials also qualify. Requires a diplomatic (verbal) note from the sending government stating name, date of birth, position, assignment location, purpose, travel dates and anticipated length of stay, plus a passport valid 6+ months and a completed application form with photo. Holders of diplomatic and official passports presenting a verbal note are exempt from visa fees (fee_usd 0). Interviews are generally waived for diplomats (may be required for personal employees/domestic workers).
