🇲🇷Mauritania Visa for American Citizens2026 Requirements, Fees & Documents

e-Visa30 days max stay

American passport holders can apply online for a Mauritania e-Visa before travel. Unlike an eTA, this is an actual visa — just issued digitally — so no embassy visit is needed for eligible short-term visits. Eligibility and covered purposes vary, so check the conditions below.

From 5 January 2025, Mauritania replaced visa-on-arrival with an e-visa system. All visa-required nationalities must apply online before travel at anrpts.gov.mr. Available durations: 30, 90, 360, or 720 days. Fees for 30-day visa: Arab and African nationals - approx. €41; Rest of World - €55/$60. Fees are paid on arrival in cash (exact change required; payment is NOT made online). The visa approval carries a QR code and must be printed. Biometric data is collected at the entry point. As of June 2025, Mauritanian embassies no longer issue sticker visas - e-visa is the only route.
