Click here (PDF checklist โ) to download the checklist for Tourism and Personal Visit Passport Requirements In order to apply for a visa: - The passport must be valid at least 3 months longer than the intended stay. - Passport issued more than 10 years ago cannot be considered for the application (regardless if the passport is still valid/was prolonged). - At least two pages must be empty in the visa section of the passport. TRAVEL MEDICAL INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS Applicants must present travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage of 30.000 EUR, valid throughout the territory of Schengen member states. Insurance must cover: emergency medical expenses, hospital treatment, repatriation for medical reasons, or repatriation of remains. Applicants for a visa for one or two entries shall prove that they are in possession of travel medical insurance covering the whole period of their stay in Schengen area. Applicants for a visa for multiple entries shall prove that they are in possession of travel medical insurance covering the period of their first intended visit. The insurance must only cover the period of effective stay, not the validity of the visa. However, in cases of multiple entry visas, the insurance must be bought for each trip to the Schengen area โ failure to provide proof of insurance at the border is grounds for denial of entry into the Schengen area countries. We suggest the insurance coverage is a couple of days longer than the intended stay, for cases of delayed flights or similar. Make sure that your insurance coverage letter proves that you meet ALL requirements above. Photocopy of your insurance card is not sufficient evidence of adequate medical insurance. Full policies will not be studied. If you donโt succeed to get the required coverage letter from your insurance company, you must purchase an international medical insurance for the trip. PLEASE NOTE: the insurance coverage letter is a compulsory document*. If the Medical insurance document is missing, the visa will be denied. *This does not apply to holders of diplomatic passports. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS - Filled out and signed application form for visa C. All sections must be filled out. State that an item is not applicable with N/A. Indicate your e-mail address and a contact phone number. - Original valid national passport, see requirements. - A copy of passport's personal details page(s) and previous Schengen visas including entry/exit stamps. - One recent photo. - Travel medical insurance, As mentioned above - Proof of legal residence in the USA and re-entry document: 1. Valid US residence permit ("Green Card") or valid US resident visa (e.g. visa type A, E, F + endorsed I-20, G, H, I, J + J1-form, L, O, R). The US Green Card or visa must be valid at least three months beyond the intended departure from the Member States. 2. A copy of valid US Green Card or valid US resident visa. 7. Proof of travel arrangements: 1. Flight (roundtrip)/travel reservations or other proof of intended transport. Each reservation must show the name of the applicant and the reservation number. 2. Full itinerary if several Schengen States will be visited or if the trip covers several Schengen and non-Schengen countries. 8. Proof of accommodation for all countries to be visited in the Schengen area, covering the entire duration of the trip: - Individuals: confirmed hotel reservation or reservation of another lodging place, stating name and contact information of the hotel/lodging, reservation number and the name of the applicant or travel companion. - Groups: the certificate of the travel agency mentioning same information as for individuals, or other proof of accommodation (e.g. rental agreement). 9. Proof of sufficient financial means for the intended journey: - Bank account statement(s) for the last three months (bank statements must show the name and address of owner(s), electronic printouts are accepted); proof of regular income e.g. pay slips for the last three months; - OR if self-employed: tax return from previous fiscal year or proof of previous economic activity and of an income during previous fiscal year; - OR if retired: e.g. copy of pension certificate or a letter of previous employer or a pension check stub or confirmation from the responsible authority about the amount of pension; - In case of business, if applicable, letter stating that all expenses are fully covered (e.g. a written proof that the inviting employer/company pays the expenses or alternatively, the sending employer/company pays for all expenses); - In case of students/researchers, if applicable, letter stating that all expenses are fully covered. 10. Signed permission to copy documents (PDF checklist โ). 11. If the applicant is minor (under 18) and travels without parents or with one parent Submit all requested documents depending on the purpose of the visit, and: - Original notarized letter of consent signed by parents or legal guardians authorizing travel to destination; - OR if the parent or legal guardian holds the parental authority alone: proof of custody or guardianship (e.g. original and copy of court decision) or original death certificate of the other parent. - Original birth certificate of minor. If necessary, translated into English. - Copies of the passports of parents or legal guardians (personal details and signature pages). - Proof of sufficient funds from parent(s) or legal guardian(s). ADDITIONAL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS BY CATEGORY: Personal visit: Letter of Guarantee (PDF checklist โ) signed by the person inviting you to Slovenia and notarized by the Administrative Unit in Slovenia (called upravna enota). Short term study/research: - Certificate from the receiving institution on the length and purpose of stay (Letter of Guarantee certified by the Administrative Unit in Slovenia, called upravna enota). - Certificate from US institution on enrolment on official letterhead, stamped and dated, containing contact information (address, email, telephone number) as well as name, position and signature of the countersigning officer. If applicable, the letter should state that all expenses are fully covered. Work/mandate at a diplomatic or consular representation or international organization in Slovenia (longer than 3 months): - Note Verbale by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the sending state or international organization with information about the applicant's post and accompanying family members, if they are holders of diplomatic or official passports. Courses or other forms of education: such as language courses, summer schools, or student exchanges, longer than 90 days: - Certificate of admission to study in Slovenia. - Confirmation of payment for the course, if payment is required. Erasmus students: - Certificate from receiving institution. - Certificate from sending institution. - Learning agreement (Erasmus+ form). Economic interest: - - Evidence of applicant's employment in Slovenia. - - Letter of approval by the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of the Republic of Slovenia. Interest in the field of higher education: - Certificate of admission to study or employment contract. - Letter of approval by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia. Interest in the field of culture: - Employment or collaboration contract. - Letter of approval by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia Sport activities: - Contract with sports club (training, coaching, employment). - Confirmation of the competent sports organization from the applicant's country of origin stating that the applicant is a professional athlete or sports coach. Reporter/Correspondent: - Written confirmation of applicant's assignment in Slovenia by media company in the applicant's country of origin. - Valid press card. - Confirmation of accreditation in Slovenia issued by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia. Religious and humanitarian service: - Confirmation of applicant's assignment in Slovenia by the religious institution or humanitarian organization in the applicant's country of origin stating date of arrival, length of stay and type of activity in Slovenia. - Accreditation of religious entity by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia - Office for Religious Communities. During the application process the Embassy or Consulate may call the applicant for an interview and request additional documents. BACKGROUND CHECKS The visa also serves as a basis for application for the residence permit in Slovenia. In this case, the certified FBI background check or country-specific equivalent is required with the visa application. Please note: if you are applying a RESIDENCE PERMIT on the basis of visa D, the FBI background check can only be three months old on the date of lodging a residence permit application in Slovenia.
