Work Visa (Entry Visa - Work)

For foreign nationals traveling to Afghanistan for employment with a registered company or organization (specialists, consultants, technicians, engineers, project managers, contract employees).

Listed as 'Entry Visa Work' on official Afghan embassy fee schedules (Doha, Almaty): USD 100 for a single-entry 30-day stay (USD 150 urgent/express). Extendable or convertible to multiple-entry via the Consulate Directorate of the MFA in Kabul. Applicants must provide employer documentation and an MFA authorization reference number. Service Visa

Issued to holders of service passports who require diplomatic or consular access to Afghanistan. Free of charge.

Exempt from fees. Validity from one month to one year. Requires official note from host country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Processed through Afghan political and consular missions abroad with MFA approval.

Entry Visa

Standard entry visa for foreign nationals invited by licensed companies or institutions operating in Afghanistan, or for Afghans with foreign passports married to foreign nationals who have not renounced Afghan citizenship.

USD 100 fee. Three-month validity with one-month stay. Also covers Afghans with foreign passports married to foreign nationals who have not relinquished Afghan citizenship.

Residence Visa

For foreign nationals who need to extend their stay in Afghanistan beyond their initial visa's expiration date. Enables prolonged residency.

Fee is USD 50 per month of stay. Duration from one month to one year. Available to those who originally entered on service, business, entry, student, or crew visa classifications.

Student Visa

Issued to foreign nationals for educational pursuits at recognized universities in Afghanistan. Based on agreements with recognized Afghan universities.

Fee range USD 40–100. Three-month validity. Requires valid educational documents and enrollment at a recognized university in Afghanistan.

Visit Visa

For foreign nationals visiting Afghanistan for specific purposes including sports competitions, exhibitions, or visiting family and acquaintances.

Fee range USD 80–240. Validity three months with one to three months stay. Applied for at Afghan embassies and consulates abroad.

Arrival Visa

Visa on arrival issued at Kabul International Airport for foreign nationals with official organizational invitations. Requires MFA approval prior to arrival.

Requires official letter from a domestic organization or official invitation from an international organization operating in Afghanistan. Issued only at Kabul International Airport with prior Ministry of Foreign Affairs approval. USD 200 fee.

Crew Visa

Issued to foreign aviation personnel including pilots, engineers, cabin crew, and aviation technicians traveling to Afghanistan for work within an aircraft.

USD 600 fee. Six-month validity with six-month stay. Processed through Afghan political and consular missions abroad.

Diplomatic Visa

Issued to diplomatic passport holders and representatives of foreign governments for official diplomatic purposes in Afghanistan.

Typically exempt from fees. Processed through the Deputy of Foreigners Visas at MFA which handles issuance/extension of visas to Diplomatic and International Organizations. Distinct from Service Visa which covers service passport holders.
