Business Visa Extension - Employment (Class E, Long-term)

Long-term authorization for foreign nationals to reside and work in Cambodia. Obtained by extending the initial Business (E) visa within Cambodia.

Cambodia does not issue a separate 'work visa' category; foreign workers enter on a Business (E) visa and extend it for 6 or 12 months (multiple entries). Extensions processed at the Department of Immigration, 322 Russian Boulevard, Phnom Penh. A separate Work Permit from the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training is required to legally work. Work permits and business visa extensions are distinct processes. Fee for 12-month multiple-entry extension is approximately USD 290-300 as reported by immigration practitioners.

Ordinary Visa Extension - Job-Seeking (Class EG)

For foreign nationals who entered on an Ordinary (E) visa and are looking for employment in Cambodia; the entry-level extension that bridges to the EB business/work extension once a job is secured.

EG ('E-General') is one of the four Ordinary (E-class) extension-of-stay subcategories — EB (business/employment), EG (job-seeking), ER (retirement), ES (student). It is the extension most first-time E-class arrivals use while looking for work: issued in 1-month or 3-month increments, single entry only (leaving Cambodia voids it), and generally renewable only once before the holder must convert to an EB extension and obtain a work permit from the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training to begin employment. Processed inside Cambodia by the General Department of Immigration (Ministry of Interior), Phnom Penh. Extension fees are payable locally and vary by duration; no single fixed USD fee is officially published.

Foreigner Work Permit and Employment Card (MLVT)

Mandatory labour-side authorization that every foreign national must hold to legally work in Cambodia, issued by the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training. Complements (does not replace) the EB business/work visa extension issued by immigration.

Distinct from the immigration visa: the EB (business) visa extension grants the right to STAY, while the work permit and foreign employment card grant the right to WORK — a foreign worker needs both. Applied for online through the Foreign Workers Centralized Management System (FWCMS) at fwcms.mlvt.gov.kh (issuing authority: Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training). Business Visa Extension - Retirement (Class E, Retirement Purpose)

Allows foreign retirees to reside long-term in Cambodia on a renewable basis.

Cambodia has no dedicated retirement visa. Retirees use the Business (E) visa extended annually through the Department of Immigration. Retirement is an explicitly recognized purpose under the E class per official consulate documentation. Applicants must show financial means (no minimum income threshold published officially). Annual renewal required.

Business Visa / Cambodia My Second Home (CM2H)

For foreign investors and long-term residents wishing to reside in Cambodia through an investment-based residency program.

The Cambodia My Second Home (CM2H) program grants a 10-year renewable residency visa to foreigners investing in approved real estate (minimum USD 100,000 in above-ground-floor residential property; land excluded). Administered by the General Department of Immigration in partnership with Khmer Home Charity Association (KHCA). Holders receive right to live, work, and study in Cambodia; eligible to apply for citizenship after 5 years. Restricted nationalities: Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, North Korea, Syria. Diplomatic Visa (Class A)

Issued to holders of diplomatic passports traveling on official government business or posted to diplomatic missions in Cambodia.

No fee. Issued to diplomatic passport holders. Duration and conditions governed by bilateral agreements. Many countries with bilateral visa exemption agreements provide visa-free entry for diplomatic passport holders without needing this visa (see conditional_access). Processing at Cambodian embassies/consulates takes 2 working days.

Official Visa (Class B)

Issued to holders of official or service passports traveling on official non-diplomatic government business.

No fee. Issued to official/service passport holders traveling for government purposes. Governed by bilateral agreements. Duration varies per agreement.

Courtesy Visa (Class C)

Issued to representatives of United Nations agencies, international organizations, and NGOs operating in Cambodia.

No fee. For UN staff, international organization representatives, and NGO personnel. Duration and terms governed by individual agreements with the Cambodian government.

Khmer Visa (Class K)

Issued to ethnic Khmer persons holding foreign nationality who wish to enter Cambodia.

No fee. Specifically for Cambodian nationals who hold a foreign passport (e.g., Cambodian-born persons with Japanese citizenship). Issued at Cambodian embassies and consulates.
