  • The passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the intended departure from the Schengen Area. Further, the document must have been issued within previous 10 years and contain 2 blank pages,

Hungary is a Schengen member. Type C visas are issued by Hungarian consulates abroad. Allows up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Visa-free nationals do not need this visa. Fee: EUR 90 for adults (EUR 45 for children 6-12; under 6 free), per the official MFA consular page. Decision normally within 15 calendar days, extendable up to 45. Applied for at the Hungarian embassy/consulate in the applicant's country of residence.

Valid up to 2 years; potentially extended for an additional 2 years based on treatment duration. Requires formal statement from the host medical facility. Processing time: 21 days standard, 8 days for minor applicants. Must enter Hungary within 3 months of approval or permit becomes invalid. Cannot apply for other permit types while holding this permit; does not lead to permanent residence. Family members cannot use family reunification provisions.

First entry uses a single-entry Type D visa (valid 3 months, up to 30-day stay) to collect the permit. Students may undertake limited employment. Requires a traineeship contract with an approved Hungarian host organization, language proficiency documentation, proof of financial resources, and health insurance.
