E-visa (advance application) and visa on arrival are both available for these nationalities. Apply in advance at visa.immigration.go.tz for faster processing. Tanzania guidelines page lists both options; VoA confirmed operational as of June 2026 per Tanzania Immigration Department and US State Dept (updated Oct 2025). Fee schedule (confirmed from official immigration.go.tz/fees/visa-fees): Ordinary Visa USD 50 (single entry, 90 days); Multiple Entry Visa USD 100 (12 months, max 90 days/stay - mandatory for US nationals); Business Visa USD 250; Transit Visa USD 30; Student Visa (single entry 3 months) USD 50; Student Visa (multiple entry 2 years) USD 250; Student Visa (research 6 months) USD 300; Student Visa (PhD 2 years) USD 550; Gratis Visa (diplomatic) free. Processing time up to 10 business days. Tanzania e-visa covers both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar - no separate Zanzibar visa required. Apply here ↗Referral Visa
Entry visa for nationals of specified countries (and stateless persons/refugees holding Vienna Convention travel documents) whose applications require prior special clearance from the Commissioner General of Immigration before a visa is issued.

NOT eligible for visa on arrival - must apply online via the e-visa portal (visa.immigration.go.tz) at least 2 months before travel and should not book flights until approved. Requires a covering letter from a registered institution/company (official visits) or a host individual (personal visits), host's ID/permit, and a completed Security Bond form (T.I.F 12).
