Applicant must earn at least three times the Romanian average gross monthly salary (approximately RON 26,700/month in 2025) for each of the last 6 months, prove remote work for (or ownership/management of) a company registered abroad — company managers need at least 3 years of activity — and hold travel medical insurance. Visa granted for 90 days; a digital-nomad residence permit is then issued for up to 12 months, renewable for a further 12 months (up to 24 months total). Foreign-sourced income may be exempt from Romanian income tax if the holder stays under 183 days in a 12-month period.
