Third-country nationals holding a valid residence permit or long-stay visa (Type D national visa) issued by any Schengen Member State are authorised to enter Malta (and other Schengen states) for transit or short stays without an additional Schengen visa, provided the total stay does not exceed 90 days in any 180-day period and all other entry conditions of Article 6(1) of the Schengen Borders Code are met (valid travel document, sufficient means, no security threat). If you can’t prepare the visa application form by yourself, a VFS officer can fill the form for you. At least one parent/legal guardian must sign on behalf of minors. - Valid Travel Document - Passport valid for at least three months after the intended date of (last) departure from the Schengen area, containing at least two blank pages and issued within the previous ten years. - One (1) photocopy of the passport including all pages containing visas and stamps. Empty pages need not be photocopied. Applicants can use photocopying or printing services at the visa application center. - If you have a second valid passport it is not necessary to submit its original along with the application. Instead, you should submit copies of all its pages. - Copy of Internal Passport Copy of applicant’s internal passport (issued at the age of 14): pages concerning the applicant's biodata, foreign passport(s) issued to him/her, his/her marital status and registration in Russia. - Passport-Size Photo One recent (past six (6) months) color passport-size photo (3.5cm х 4.5cm) bearing a true likeness of the applicant on a white background. Due to the stringent requirements around the photo required for your application, it is recommended to utilize the photo services available inside the visa application center. This will provide you assurance that your application is submitted with the photograph that meets the specifications and will be acceptable to the Embassy. You will have ready photographs in 45 seconds. The cost of the service is RUB 520 for six (6) photographs. This service can be booked at the visa application center upon your arrival. - Valid Travel Medical Insurance Valid travel medical insurance by an accredited company covering the entire period of intended stay, valid for all Schengen States and covering any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgency medical attention, emergency hospital treatment or death during the stay. The minimum coverage must be EUR 30,000. - Travel arrangements - Return ticket or reservation or another document confirming the means of transport, e.g. a contract with a transport company or a copy of the driver’s registration certificate and driving license; documentation proving the right to use a motor vehicle or other means of transport, etc. If the reserved return ticket is not deemed sufficient, the applicant can be asked for a proof of payment thereof. - Proof of accommodation (e.g. hotel reservation, lease, voucher). Not applicable if applicant’s travel purpose is visiting family or friends and accommodation is covered with sponsorship form or written request from the host. Any AIP letters which are deemed to have expired on the date of appointment shall not be accepted and as such it will not be possible for the applicant to proceed with the booked appointment. Any applicable fees paid at application stage are non-refundable. Distinct from the Global Residence Programme (GRP): the MRP is specifically for pensioners. Grants a flat 15% tax rate on foreign pension income remitted to Malta, with a minimum annual tax of €7,500 plus €500 per dependant/household staff member. The pension must be remitted to Malta and represent at least 75% of the beneficiary's chargeable income; the applicant must not be in an employment relationship. Property requirement: purchase a qualifying property of at least €275,000 (€220,000 in Gozo or South Malta), OR rent at least €9,600/year (€8,750 in Gozo or South Malta).
