Airport Transit Visa (A-Type)

Visa for transit through the international transit area of a Polish (Schengen) airport without entering the Schengen Area. Required for nationals of certain countries even when not leaving the transit zone.

Required only for nationals of (13 nationalities): Afghanistan, Armenia (from 1 August 2022), Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka. Exemptions exist for diplomatic passport holders, EU family members, holders of valid C/D-type Schengen visas, and holders of valid residence permits or visas from Canada, Japan, San Marino, the US, or EEA countries. Fee USD 106 (US consulate); appeal/reconsideration fee USD 84. Processing 15 calendar days; may extend to 30-60 days. Does not authorise entry into the Schengen Area.
