Calidad Migratoria de Trabajador
Authorizes foreign nationals to reside in Peru and work for a Peruvian employer or under a Peruvian labor contract.
Work authorization must be obtained before the visa can be issued; the employer typically sponsors the application and must obtain prior labor authorization from Peru's Ministry of Labor (MTPE) in most cases. Renewable annually. Path to permanent residency after 2 consecutive years. Governed by DL 1350 and DS 007-2017-IN. Application at Peruvian consulate abroad or via change of status in-country at Migraciones.

Permits foreign nationals to reside in Peru to pursue full-time studies at an officially recognized educational institution.
Applicant must have an acceptance letter from a Peruvian educational institution recognized by the Ministry of Education (MINEDU) or equivalent. Cannot be used for tourist-style language courses under 30 days (those fall under tourist category). Renewable annually for the duration of studies. Path to permanent residency after 2 consecutive years of continuous residence. Governed by DL 1350 and DS 007-2017-IN.

Grants temporary residency to foreign nationals who make a qualifying investment in a Peruvian company and commit to creating local employment.
Minimum investment of PEN 500,000 (approximately USD 130,000) in a new or existing Peruvian company via international bank transfer through a Peruvian SBS-supervised institution. Applicant must commit to create at least 5 jobs for Peruvian nationals within 1 year of obtaining residency. Application fee: S/ 57.60 (code 07567 at Banco de la Nación). Renewable annually. After 2 years, permanent residency may be applied for. Governed by DL 1350, DS 007-2017-IN, and DS 002-2021-IN.

Grants permanent residency to foreign nationals who demonstrate a stable, permanent passive income from qualifying sources such as pensions, annuities, royalties, or dividends.
Requires proof of permanent monthly passive income of at least USD 1,000 from qualifying sources (pension, lifetime annuity, royalties guaranteed for life, or dividends). An additional USD 500/month per dependent is required. Income must be deposited through a Peruvian financial institution. Qualifying income does NOT include remote/freelance work, rental income, capital gains, or interest. Grants permanent residency (indefinite validity). Governed by DS 002-2021-IN.

Authorizes foreign nationals who work remotely for companies or clients domiciled outside Peru to reside and work in Peru without engaging in local employment.
Created by Decreto Legislativo N° 1582 (November 2023), which amended DL 1350 to add the Nómada Digital migration category. Would allow up to 365 days stay with renewal. However, as of June 2026, implementing regulations and TUPA procedures have not been published and this category is NOT yet operational - applications cannot be accepted. Status: legislated but unimplemented.

Permits family members of legally resident foreign nationals or Peruvian citizens to join them and reside in Peru.
Eligible family members include spouses/partners, minor children, and economically dependent parents of the principal resident or Peruvian national. Documents required include proof of relationship (marriage certificate, birth certificate) and proof of the principal's legal status. Renewable annually. Governed by DL 1350 and DS 007-2017-IN. Also available under Andean Community (CAN) Decision 878 for nationals of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador.

Authorizes foreign nationals who are members of officially recognized religious organizations to reside in Peru to carry out religious activities.
Must be a member of a religious organization formally registered in Peru. Requires a letter of support from the religious organization. Renewable annually. Governed by DL 1350 and DS 007-2017-IN.

Admits foreign diplomats, consular officers, and official government representatives and their families to Peru for diplomatic or official duties.
Diplomatic and official passport holders from countries with visa suppression agreements with Peru (covering diplomatic/official/service passports) enter visa-free. These include a large list of countries per the official RREE May 2015 table and subsequent updates. The UK specifically was granted a unilateral exemption for diplomatic/official/service passport holders for up to 183 days by DS 003-2024-RE (published January 23, 2024). Indonesia was added by bilateral agreement ratified by DS 006-2025-RE. Accredited diplomatic staff receive the 'Calidad Migratoria Diplomática' status through the Ministry of Foreign Relations, not through standard Migraciones channels.

Provides temporary protection and legal residency to foreign nationals who require humanitarian protection, including asylum seekers, refugees, stateless persons, and victims of trafficking.
Established under DL 1350. Covers refugees (under 1951 Refugee Convention), asylum seekers with pending applications, stateless persons, and victims of human trafficking. Administered jointly by Migraciones and the Comisión Especial para los Refugiados (CEPAR). Renewable annually while humanitarian need persists. Governed by DL 1350 and DS 007-2017-IN.

Grants two-year temporary residency with path to permanent residency for nationals of Andean Community member states (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador) based on reciprocal regional free movement agreement.
Available to nationals of Bolivia, Colombia, and Ecuador under Andean Community Decision 878 (Andean Migration Statute, in force August 2021). Implemented in Peru by decree effective October 23, 2023. Two-year temporary residence. After 2 years, permanent residence may be applied for. Applicant must have clean criminal record and demonstrate means of support. Can enter with national ID card (cedula/DNI) - no passport required.

Grants two-year temporary residency with path to permanent residency for nationals of MERCOSUR member and associated states based on bilateral regional agreement.
Available to nationals of MERCOSUR member and associated states (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay). Peru ratified the MERCOSUR Residence Agreement effective January 1, 2024. Can be applied for at a Peruvian consulate abroad or in-country at Migraciones. Two-year temporary residence, path to permanent residence after 2 years. MERCOSUR members may also enter with national ID card - no passport required.

Foreign nationals sent by a foreign company or international corporation to carry out a specific task, project, or highly specialized technical/professional assignment in Peru (e.g. installing or maintaining complex machinery, international audits or certifications) without being on a Peruvian payroll.
Distinct from the standard Trabajador category: the worker is posted/seconded by a foreign employer for a defined assignment and is not hired under a local Peruvian labour contract. Requires a service-provision or technical-cooperation contract between the foreign corporation and the Peruvian receiving entity, plus a designation letter naming the worker. Fee S/ 58.80 (code 07567 via Pagalo.pe or Banco de la Nacion). Applied for online through Migraciones' Agencia Virtual while the applicant is outside Peru; decision within 30 business days. Young foreign nationals (aged 18-30) from partner countries to spend up to one year in Peru combining tourism with incidental temporary work, under reciprocal 'Vacaciones y Trabajo' / Working Holiday agreements.
Issued under the Pacific Alliance 'Vacaciones y Trabajo' program (nationals of Mexico, Chile and Colombia, aged 18-30) and reciprocal bilateral Working Holiday agreements Peru maintains with France, Australia, New Zealand and Portugal (Czech Republic added from February 1, 2026). Multiple entries, one calendar year; work is permitted provided it is not the main purpose of the stay, and study/training is capped at roughly two months. Annual quota applies (about 300 permits per country per year under the Pacific Alliance scheme). Applicant must not have previously used the program. Applied for at a Peruvian consulate abroad; corresponds to the 'Intercambio' calidad migratoria under DL 1350.
